Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to this Christian thread.

As far as my philosophy of ‘do no harm’,…… that is very true. However, it behooves me equally to not stand by and allow those who preach harm to innocent others to continue. No one should be a victim to hate mongering and prejudice no matter what book it’s attractively, or convincingly wrapped in.

Hi (((MLM, Andrew, TOB, April))). Hope all is well with you.

DH and I bought a couple of picnic tables with attached benches today. Well, actually we bought the kits--precut wood and bunch of nails etc. We sometimes ignore the fact that we have 47 steps and are old, I have little upper body strength, a frozen shoulder and DH has had 2 discs removed. We couldn't leave them in the car because we have to pick DD up tomorrow at the ferry. We couldn't leave them at the top of the hill, because this is a beach community and theft is high. So we each made 8 trips up and down the hill. We got one together and are pleased with it. They will enable us to seat 12 easily--we have 10 for BBQ tomorrow and next weekend we will be feeding 15--I am already chickening out and thinking about brunch, not dinner for next week. Make a fruit salad, scramble some eggs, fry up some good bacon, toast some Montreal bagels and break out a special blackberry jam a friend makes for us, stir up some mimosas, brew some great coffee and pray there is no rain or everyone ends up in my tiny house.

Oh dear! Can you tell I am hungry? Trying so hard not to go off my diabetic diet, but it is hard being cheerful about my fruit cup as everyone else plows into their Island Farms caramel explosion ice cream. I am taking a deep breath and reminding myself that I am so lucky treatment of diabetes has come so far. When push comes to shove, all in all, I am a very lucky duck.

Hope your weekends are all full of sunshine. By the way, In B.C., we are celebrating B.C. day (?!) What do you call this August holiday in your corner of Canada?

It's finally raining in my little corner of Canada - thanks be to God. My yard looks like it's fall already as the heat has just been too much. It's back to 30+ degrees for the rest of the week but I am so thankful we have one day of reprive.

I have worked 108 hours in the past two weeks. My house needs some serious attention, but I am tired and will spend the rest of the day just vegging. The housework will still be there tomorrow. 😄

I'm sooooooooooooo looking forward to Barkyville.

Yesterday morning at work the TV was on...I don't normally watch the Power Hour but there was a young man who was both armless and legless. What he lacked in physical attributes he made up for in the message he spoke. He kept referring to Jeremiah 29:11.....
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." It gave me the goosebumps......

Everyone have a blessed Monday :-x

Haven't posted here for awhile - guess haven't been around when this thread is in the top three.

Good morning TOB, S-nikki. . .

Looking for something positive. . .I just read a comment by Mary Kay. . .

'My company mascot is the bumblebee. Because of its tiny wings and heavy body, aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly. But the bumblebee doesn't know that, so it flies anyway.'

We learn so much from those hard little workers. Somewhere on this board there was something on honeybees being decimated by cellular signals. We have quite the honey industry around here. I just noticed last night that one of the apiaries set up a bunch of hives in our neighbour's field. My children have been exploring their father's side of things. I'm on a search here shortly for family crest rings. Our crest is a bee on a thistle and the phrase 'Dulcius Ex Asperis" (sweeter after difficulties). Further adds to my conviction that 'trials only come to make me strong'. . .if God brings me to it, He will see me through it.

I was meditating this morning on one of my favorite Biblical passages. . .
Psalm 91. . . I just want to post the first two verses. . . if that doesn't get me through the day . . . I don't know much else will.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

-NIV

I am truly too blessed to be stressed. I pray the same 'plight' for you all. :)

The 'young man' I was referring to is Nick Vujicic. I found him under 'Life without Limbs'. What an inspiration.

Good evening eveyone - nikki, Nellie, April, Julie, TOB -I think I saw Prior back there a ways - hi there.

Nice evening here on the east coast although I think rain is in the forecast.

Nellie I really enjoyed your post , it was refreshing and uplifting. I especially like your closing thought on stress. Yes we are truly blessed and if we allow Him He will let us walk on calm waters in the raging storm.

Well must be going for now. Each one enjoy your week.

And always remember He truly does love us and everyone...even when we don't give Him a second thought.

Andrew

Good morning, Christian brothers and sisters!

Got this in my e-mail today, not sure who the author is...but I hope it posts OK (copy/paste)...

Sand and Stone

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING
THROUGH THE DESERT.
DURING SOME POINT OF THE
JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN
ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND
SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE
IN THE FACE.

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED
WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT
SAYING ANYTHING,
WROTE IN THE SAND:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

THEY KEPT ON WALKING,
UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS,
WHERE THEY DECIDED
TO TAKE A BATH

THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN
SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE
MIRE ! AND STARTED DROWNING,
BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.

AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM
THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:

"TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SAVED MY LIFE ".

THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED
AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND
ASKED HIM, "AFTER I HURT YOU,
YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW,
YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?"

THE FRIEND REPLIED
"WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US
WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN
IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF
FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES
SOMETHING GOOD FOR US,
WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE
WHERE NO WIND
CAN EVER ERASE IT."

LEARN TO WRITE
YOUR HURTS IN
THE SAND AND TO
CARVE YOUR
BENEFITS IN STONE.

THEY SAY IT TAKES A
MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL
PERSON, AN HOUR TO
APPRECIATE THEM, A DAY
TO LOVE THEM, BUT THEN
AN ENTIRE LIFE
TO FORGET THEM.

Just wanted to share one of God's handiwork . . .

This is a fire rainbow - the rarest of all naturally occuring atmospheric phenomena.

The picture was captured this week (I got this e-mail two months ago!-N)on the Idaho/Washington border. The event lasted about an hour.

Clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20,000 feet in the air, with just the right amount of ice crystals and the sun has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees.

The song "He's Everything to Me" came to mind when I opened this e-mail. . . sang by Ralph Carmichael. . .

In the stars His handiwork I see,
On the wind He speaks with majesty,
Though He ruleth over land and sea,
What is that to me?
I will celebrate Nativity,
For it has a place in history,
Sure, He came to set His people free,
What is that to me?

Till by faith I met Him face to face,
and I felt the wonder of His grace,
Then I knew that He was more than just a
God who didn't care,
That lived a way out there and

Now He walks beside me day by day,
Ever watching o'er me lest I stray,
Helping me to find that narrow way,
He's Everything to me.
