Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Ralph--loved the story about Ron.

Nikki, Ron was an alcoholic almost all of his life, but he was actually pretty good to my mother, and aside from throwing him out of my mothers house about 25 years ago for breaking all of their dishes, he and I never had any problems.

I slapped one of his friends once for calling my mother a female dog, but Ron never confronted me about that. I think he knew better. Ron loved to hunt and fish, just like Valve and his father.

On Friday or Saturday I will say goodbye to him. I will miss him. I think it has been about 15 years since I have been this emotional. Hearing my mother cry tears my heart out.

Weeping may endureth a day, but Joy cometh in the Morning

This is my favourite scripture, it has such strong, and emotional meaning to me!!

It was shown to me at my darkest hour, and maybe someday, I will be able to share it with you all.

Peace be to all who read this thread:-x

Should I post this on the Christian thread?

Walk the walk, talk the talk...

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy
boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He
did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could
have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in
frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection,
dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and
looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer
ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the
police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed,
and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman
approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the
booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal
effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up
behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy
in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What
Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate,
the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker and the chrome-plated
Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally... I assumed the car was
stolen."

I have no idea why but this song keeps running through my head. It is an old one of Kris Kristofferson's.

Why me Lord, what have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the pleasures I've known
Tell me Lord, what have I ever done
That was worth loving you
Or the kindness you've shown.

Lord help me Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am
Now that I know that I've needed you so
Help me Jesus, my soul's in your hand.

Tell me Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay
All I've taken from you
Maybe Lord, I can show someone else
What I have been through myself
On my way back to you

Lord help me Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am
Now that I know that I've needed you so
Help me Jesus, my soul's in your hand.

Not a hymn I know, but I am still fond of it.

I'm looking for a verse from the Bible that says something to the effect of...I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

If anyone could let me know where to find it I would be very appreciative.
Thank you.

Heartfelt sympathy to those distressed by personal illness or the ills of family & friends.

Certainly in my experience watching family or friends suffer is far more trying than our own misgivings. After spending time as carekeeper for my grandfather & MIL I can relate to your pain.

God speed & bring comfort to you & yours. When the time comes despair not from the loss of a loved one but draw strength from the love they brought into your lives! In doing so their lives will have had true meaning!

Didn't ya know?

Well if ya didn't know ya should know 'cause I told you it was so, "say's the pervading ego! Say's I, "Here use my hanky". LOL

Kelly--I don't know Carol Baker's rendition (it may be super famous, I just don't know it or her either--although I do remember an actress from the 60s and 70s with that name). I love the version on Kris Kristofferson's All Time Greatest Hits
album. (Yes! Album--I am an almost senior)
