Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

Awww! you (((gals))) are too nice ... thank you for overlooking my snippy times when I have my moments 🙂 but it's all about and for Him. *pointing up*

I have one of my best of friends who has made it her ministry to send out an e-mail of encouragement every morning to her sisters-in-Christ. I look forward to reading her as part of my morning devotion.

Today's is another worth sharing ...

There are times in the storms of our lives that we hang on too tight to the wheel of life. We want Jesus to take the wheel but we don't trust Him completely. It is when things spin out of control that we put our hands up and cry out 'Jesus takes hold of the wheel'. I heard the lyric to this song that just reminds me of times when I just say Lord Jesus please take control I give it all to You, I surrender all.

-----------------------
Jesus Take The Wheel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky4rfA_tebY

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention
she was going way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was sooo scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
I've been living my life
I know I've got to change
So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on

Oh, Jesus take the wheel
Oh, I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
From this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
---------------------

Today I ask that you give Jesus the wheel of your life for He has been down that road before. He knows every curve, bump, hill, danger zone and mountain to climb. You cannot ask for a better driver than He who knows the road of life as He walked that dusty road and bore it ALL for you!

Remember that there is no one on this earth who loves you more than He.

Lucie, thank you so much, what a nice thing to say. It warmed my heart.

Nellie, that is a very uplifting ministry your friend has chosen. Thank you for sharing that email with us. I love that song.

I have not done it often, or often enough, but when I finally realize I cannot handle something no matter how hard I struggle, I stop struggling and tell God I can't handle it. I hand it over to Him. I get the most wonderful feeling of peace.

Sometimes I want to smack myself up the side of the head when I think of how much trouble I could have saved myself and the people around me if I had just trusted Him sooner.

Christine, always wonderful to see you. I know you disagree with me on things, yet you don't cut me out of your life. You have such a good heart. Thank you.

Have a good day everyone.:-x

Good day ...

This morning I want us to Praise God for His Goodness, Gracious, Compassion, Great in Mercy, slow to anger.

God is good, He is so Good to His children but even unto mankind.
But even whatever we may be going through let's praise Him anyway in the good times and the bad.

We have a God who does not leave us hanging but is good to His Word that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

How Great is Our God

(segues into How Great Thou Art...beautiful song...one thing I love about my friend's ministry - she introduces & focuses on the lyrics and I find the corresponding you tube rendition ... I love to listen to the songs. I hope you find a blessing in listening to as well.

Bear with me ... but I believe God answered my prayers!! For reasons too long to explain, I opened up my home to a young man needing low-cost accommodations (meaning free) for the next 3 months. He settled in yesterday - got here around 5/5:30. I showed him his 'digs' in the basement. I apologized that all there is in the bathroom is a toilet & sink and he'd just have to use the 'worklights' for lighting and he'll have to come upstairs for showers...but he noticed these boxes down there and asked about them - I told him they're the medicine cabinet (that came with built-in lights) and the walls of the shower unit....that we're in the process of putting in as we have time (it's been there for the last 2 years). He says - if you don't mind I'd like to take a gander at it.

By 8 last nite ... the cabinet is up and lights working. ... and off he went to do a Bible study. (I know it's a sad commentary when you have to hire someone to study the Bible with...not for me, mind you. Well, here's the explanation - our church from time to time get requests for Bible studies so they decided to hire (if you want to call it that) this young man to do them. He's studying to be a pastor and this is likely good practical experience for him.)

Anyway, now I can hear the tools going downstairs. He's putting in the door and finishing the shower. He has an appt @ noon so he's filling in his time.

I can't help but think, when I almost desparately need it, God sent me a handyman. Now I hope I can convince him to take some money for the work.

I really believe we're gonna have this house ready for my daughter's wedding.

What can I say ... but praise the Lord!!! :)

Oh Nellie--thank you for that link. I turned off CNN, put the volume up on the computer, and let that lovely music fill my home. Wonderful!

Yeahhhhhh! Prayers answered. I am so happy for you.

We are having another beautiful day here--and it was supposed to start raining Wed. so these days are blessings to the rain/clouds weary.

I am sorry--I am way behind, I would love to hear about your plans/ or the couples' plan for their wedding. Now that my DD's are married, I really enjoy hearing about weddings.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Kim, I remember you saying "no coincidences" to me and the more I explore that, the more I think you are right.

We used to live in Randolph New Jersey. It had a town hall, 3 schools, a diner, a Kmart and not much else. We spent most of our time in Morristown, a small town right next to us. It is a lovely old historic town with wonderful old houses. Two weeks ago in church, we were sitting in our regular pew and there were two new people sitting there too. After the service, we started to chat--she was the visiting minister's wife, and they had recently moved from Morristown New Jersey to the Victoria area. I have not met one other person from Morristown since we moved in 1990. When I lived in New Jersey, I did not attend church. We thought it was pretty amazing that I would choose to attend this church, and she would choose that pew to sit in--but both of us said at the same time "no coincidences"! It seemed like God had just whispered in my ear, "you are in the right place at last."

I have managed to over schedule myself--racing around trying to do too much, not doing a particularly good job at anything. For anyone else in the same mode today, I found this.

Said the robin to the sparrow
I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings,
Rush about and worry so.
Said the sparrow to the robin,
Friend, I think that it must be,
That they have no heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me.

Anon

It helps me to center myself, and I remember He is with me. Hope it helps you too.

Thanks Lucie--sorry I missed your post. DBIl has been very ill (he ended up with e-coli) and since he is definitely not Christian, has no belief in anything but science, I did not want to ask for prayers here and irritate him. I didn't put him on a prayer list either as a matter of respect, but he did allow that my own personal prayers were okay.:-) I don't think he would mind if I said that God is good.

I am so grateful today for something that has been very hard for our family--facing DGS's diagnosis. We took him for lunch today to a different A& W (his restaurant of choice is the old one) and he said, "Granny, I really really hope this new A&W has salads too because I know you love salad. I hope, I hope, I hope." and I could understand each word he said. I really think the early intervention has been a tremendous help. It doesn't change things, but it makes it easier for him to deal with the world. His impairments make him sound like he is from Brooklyn or the Bronx, but they will be gone one day too. He told me his little brother likes to vacuum--and it struck me that "vamuum" is gone now too. Secretly, I will miss his serious discussion on "vamuums", but I am so thankful for the healing that brought it about.

I am feeling very blessed today.

Today would have been my Mums 76th birthday. I feel as though part of my heart is missing. I didn't realize I would miss her this much.

I'm volunteering this morning at the local 'radiothon' for three hours and then going out for lunch with a dear friend in order to keep busy....and then I may participate in a 'cleaning frenzy'. (Mum always cleaned when she was stressed, it must be genetic 😉 )

Hope everyone had a great week :-x.
