Anyways, life goes on. As I said in another posting, I'm simply not going to acknowledge certain people any more. I believe that is my right.

In an unrelated matter, my step father, Ron, is in the Princeton hospital for the 4th time in 2 months. This time he is being taken to Penticton for an MRI scan to see what is causing his blockage. My mother is worried because both of his parents died from stomach cancer.

I'm really surprised it has taken this long and this many visits to the hospital before they finally take some action to see what is wrong.

About 3 years ago he was told he wouldn't last 6 months unless he quit drinking and smoking and unless he started to eat better. He did quit but I'm thinking there was too much damage done before.

We should know more in a few days.

My heart is heavy for 24 years ago today my Dad passed away. Born into a God loving Bible loving Christain family he strayed to alcohol and other not so good lifestyle for much of his life. However in the final few years of his life, perhaps remembering his Mothers prayers and teachings, came back to the Lord and asked for forgiveness. God bless his soul until we meet again.
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."--Unknown

valve I'm so sorry to hear that.

I just got an update on my step father's condition. He has cancer throughout his whole system and he won't be coming home from the hospital. I will be going down to say goodbye to him on Thursday and spend some time with my mother.

The doctor hasn't told him yet but he won't be going home. Ron is 71.

How very sad:( Sorry to hear that Ralph. And kind thoughts to you, as well, Valve.

Cancer affects so very many families. We are attending the funeral tomorrow for a very long-time employee of ours. He was only 55.

I'm sure your father found peace when "he came home".

COMING HOME by W. Kirkpatrick
(lovely hymn)

I’ve wandered far away from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
Lord, I’m coming home.

Refrain:
Coming home, coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love,
Lord, I’m coming home.

I’ve wasted many precious years,
Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears,
Lord, I’m coming home.

I’m tired of sin and straying, Lord,
Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy word,
Lord, I’m coming home.

My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
Now I’m coming home;
My strength renew, my home restore,
Lord, I’m coming home.

My only hope, my only plea,
Now I’m coming home;
That Jesus died, and died for me,
Lord, I’m coming home.

I need His cleansing blood I know,
Now I’m coming home;
Oh, wash me whiter than the snow,
Lord, I’m coming home.

Nellie I just got off the phone with my mom and I think it has been a long time since the last time I heard her cry.

His name is Ronald Ranger and they have been together for 31 or 32 years. Tomorrow she and the doctor will tell Ron he won't be going home. Unfortunatly it turns out I can't make it down there until Friday evening.

Ralph - last month I was told my mother had maybe a week - after much prayer - I gave it all up to God. I believed my mother had always been a faithful servant and if He had more work for her to do He will heal her but if it was His will that she rests, I was OK with it. Just kinda gave me peace of mind. Well, she got well enough to be discharged to a nursing home now and working on a prayer ministry. So you never know - but I will pray for relief from pain and suffering for your SF and strength and comfort for your mom. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts, they really help. A sad time for you and yours Ralph, so sorry. Spendmama, "Coming Home", timely thanks. A beautiful song that I love to hear George Beverly Shae Sing on the Hour of Decision broadcasts. A favourite of my Dad's was "My Mother's Prayers Have Followed Me".

This one . . .? Those are lovely words - should find the sheet music for it and have it for Mother's Day.

"My Mother's Prayers Have Followed Me" by Bentley Ackley

I grieved my Lord from day to day,
I scorned His love so full and free,
And though I wandered far away,
My mother’s prayers have followed me.
Refrain:
I’m coming home, I’m coming home,
To live my wasted life anew,
For mother’s prayers have followed me,
Have followed me the whole world through.
O’er desert wild, o’er mountain high,
A wanderer I chose to be;
A wretched soul, condemned to die,
Still mother’s prayers have followed me.
He turned my darkness into light,
This blessed Christ of Calvary!
I’ll praise His name both day and night,
That mother’s prayers have followed me. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thanks Nellie. Ron has been bed ridden for about a year now, and this was his 4th time in the Hospital in the last 2 months. I am very happy that your mother is doing better, but for Ron, my mother said she knew he was already on borrowed time. Unfortunatly Ron has not given God much thought. My mother is a devout Jehovah's Witness and gets much support from within that community.

We have our differences in our belief systems but we don't discuss it. I am glad that she has friends in the area for support. We live about 3 1/2 hours apart.

Ralph, you and I have had our disagreements but sometimes you just set things aside. This would be one of them. My condolences on the illness in your family. I hope he passes in peace and finds peace on the other side.

Valve, memories are something we live with but they are the indestructable attachment we have to others and something to cherish.

So be it.

Thanks D and others who have commented.

I'll tell you a little story about Ron. One time, many years ago he and a friend went to Bellingham Washington and spent all day in the bar. When they came out to drive back to B.C. they could not find his truck anywhere so they concluded that someone stole it. They phoned the police. The police came out and asked Ron to describe the truck, so he proceeded to do so. The cop said, "That pretty much descibes the truck you are leaning on." Ron turned around and looked, then turned to the cop and said, "Damn you guys are good down here".

That is a true story and we laughed about that many times.

I am a little bit emotional right now.

Thx for that thought Prior. Made me think of some of the great times Dad and me shared fishing and hunting together.
