It's been an interesting day in the City some call the Centre of the Universe.
First documents and other evidence were released showing Ford meeting in clandestine places with a man who was his personal driver, the same man arrested for drug dealing. The police were actually following the drug dealer and guess who shows up! One of the meetings was especially interesting when Ford and his driver both showed up minutes apart at a convenience store, wandered the isles separately ....... but never showed any sign of recognizing each others presence in the store.........and then Ford disappeared in the store bathroom for a while. Did Ford pick up from the shelves more than a bag of Doritos?
Now, the police have uncovered the video.........that's the one Ford said did not exist.......the one showing Ford smoking what 'seems to be' crack cocaine.....in the company of known drug dealers. Police Chief Blair having seen the video said....."I am disappointed".
Tick Tock

Sometimes I wonder. Are conservative supporters willing to forgive Rob Ford because of his party affiliation?
They did the same thing one hundred and fifty years ago when they elected and kept reelecting another conservative politician with a substance abuse problem: our first Prime Minister, John A Macdonald.

"Then Ford would be a legalized addict."
Yes, correct ,legalized addict! That is if he actually is one but he hasn't ever appeared stoned to me on tv., peculiar yes.
What is worrisome is if he runs again, splits the right with Stinz, then we could have a possibility of an Olivia chow as Major reversing all the good work our present hard working major has accomplished

This is a serious thread. Jokes are not allowed.

If Ford wins the next election based on his record, we will at least know he will have an after hours party to attend..

There's 'stoned' and then there is 'stoned'. There are many so-called 'functioning' addicts out there. Hollywood is renown for them and the only ones we actually see are the ones who like alcoholics have done too much. But the functioning addicts still are not in control inside and do not make rational decisions and have a very short temper (often). None of these are good for a man running a city. If one looks at Ford's record of tirades, it isn't a far stretch to see that he has been doing for a long time, this is nothing new for him.
Ford is now pleading for understand and sympathy, which is another ruse for addicts who have not come to terms with their addictions. He's done this little boy "I'm sorry I have made a mistake" all his life and based on his mother's view that the most important thing for him to do is lose weight........I can see where the enabling has come from.

In attempt to be balanced, I think this manipulation of figures is not uncommon for politicians because they consider voters stupid and ignorant. What we need is a monthly audit of all government figures and political promises by outside unbiased sources in order to get to the truths.

"manipulation of figures is not uncommon for politicians"
I agree. It still does not make it right.

Many supporters overlook Rob Ford’s personal issues because they are willfully ignorant of his failure to keep property taxes from soaring.

The reaction of some people to this Ford situation has quite honestly has taken me a bit by surprise. Ford is an arrogant bully, a liar and I believe he has done a lot more hard drugs than he has admitted to. But still there are people who openly support him and noticeably there are people who have quietly said nothing, which I believe is because they do not want to betray their conservative base. It reminds me of times in history when people like Ford got away with murder and the only reason they succeeded was because of the support of others. Without their support, they are nothing! It seems times have changed......but people never really do.

"It seems times have changed......but people never really do."
Reminds me of the good old days when Mulroney sued the Canadian government for libel and many supporters applauded when he settled for and received millions of dollars from the taxpayers.
A few years later, Mulroney finally admitted to having received those hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash in little brown bags, not pay any GST on them nor declare them for income tax purposes (his lawyer later settled with CRA for half the amount of tax owed).
Yet, we still have partisan supporters who think highly of the man. Go figure.
How easy we forget:

True, so true. But it's not only Mulroney, it's so, so many other politicians and bureaucrats and we haven't even scratched the surface if we only knew half of what was going on. But it also gives one other things to ponder.........think of criminals from organized crime to petty criminals and I can understand why they do many of the things they do.......because in their minds, if those in positions of authority get away with crimes, why shouldn't they? We learn by example and how can children be taught right from wrong when all they see around them are adored politicians stealing from the taxpayer and making underhanded deals, and lying to the taxpayer and doing hard drugs and getting away with it.
The average Canadian citizen are pawns to be used by our appointed kings and queens in both political office and corporate headquarters and we are either too self absorbed or just plain dense to realize it. Human beings, the most intelligent species? Hardly.

Nov 13.......
Rob Ford’s staffers told Toronto Police shocking details about booze, drugs and even a suspected prostitute in the mayor’s City Hall office, according to a media lawyer who has seen the redacted sections that have been ordered unsealed. The bombshell information is contained in police interviews that will be released to the public after Justice Ian Nordheimer ruled Wednesday that some blacked-out portions of the information to obtain a search warrant into the affairs of Ford’s friend Alexander Lisi can be made available. Among the redacted information to be released are interviews with former Ford staffers Mark Towhey, David Price and George Christopoulos.

And he just keeps on giving..........
Nov 13 ......
''Admitted crack smoker Mayor Rob Ford wants mandatory drug tests for Toronto city councillors. Ford lost a bid to get council to vote for mandatory hair tests for drug and alcohol of all members of council during Wednesday’s debate. The mayor’s motion was ruled out of order by the Speaker. He offered to pay for the testing out of his own pocket. “It pains me to do this,” Ford told council. “I’m not a rat.”
Not that I entirely disagree with having drug tests for those in power, but drug tests can be very vague and highly debatable. As for alcohol........come'on every politician drinks at lunches, events, etc etc. What does he want a breathalizer at the door of city hall?
Ford's new idea are the ramblings of a desperate man, watching his political career and maybe even his business and other areas of life doing down the tube. He's not fooling anyone and my guess is tomorrow morning, there will be boxes of cheese sent to his office.

OMG!!!!
What makes him go one with this charade?
If he wants to continue his lifestyle, why not resign. He's wealthy and could continue as before without the scrutiny. And if he wants to clean up and try to make a living in politics, why not take a sabbatical and come back clean. People love to forgive people.
I suppose that the power he now has is the biggest drug of all. He never has been or ever could be a rockstar like this again. There is live coverage of Toronto council all over the world.
I'm not sure if I could believe this, if it was a movie. It's just surreal.

But you have to admit, even as far as political scandals go, this is a meltdown of epic proportions.
Taking into account his entire mayoral term, and not just the booze, drugs, hookers, and intimidation, has anyone ever seen anything like this before?
I understand that there have been scandals with far more important people with more at stake, but this level of stupidity and debauchery is a first for me.

Pride, ego, narcissism and a feeling of entitled invulnerability. Spoiled as a child, brought up by a doting mother and a domineering father who groomed his boys to be alpha males and get whatever they want, at no matter what the cost.
He has the same attitude and has been taking lessons from the former mayor of Washington DC.
Drug addicts sometimes do get re-elected if the the people are stupid enough to do it.

Rob Ford just wont stop giving us entertainment. He said him sniffing coke or him being seen sniffing coke or something is a 100 percent lie..
Dude, you just admitted to smoking crack?.
