Why collect tax on something that has already been taxed by the purchaser?  I buy USED equipment and I get taxed on that so isn't that illegal to tax twice on ONE item?

The item is not being taxed.

The transaction is being taxed.

Used goods are just as taxable as new ones, because it is the act of purchasing that isbeing taxed.
