eBay is going down to drain with customer service

For all of a sudden, eBay has stopped providing customer support with a follow up phone call and live person chat.

I have an ongoing case that has been put on hold. I tried to call them to get the case updated and the Contact Us page always comes up with the "email us" which is completely useless and the representative doesn't even reponse back a day or provide a clear answer.

eBay seems to be pursuing an interactive customer service model based on online chat and messaging through Twitter/X and Facebook. Have you tried contacting eBay that way yet?

Using social media platform to deal with a customer's case or dispute is a complete joke. The resprentative needs to pull up the customer's account to access thru a case and work on it instantly. The social media platform is used for making annoucements and not for customer case-by-case issue.

Not really sure how this differs significantly from dealing with a phone rep.

A lot of users report having better success with the online reps than the phone reps because the online reps can do a more thorough job of finding information.  But I guess it depends on how confident you are in your written communication skills versus your verbal ones.

Im in the same boat, been using Ebay for decades. I have an urgent request that leads to an AI bot that is no different than talking to a statue. Quite fustrating.

My understanding is that typing AGENT into the AI chat is supposed to get you to a human being, @thebonecollector1999, but I’m not sure if it only works at specific points in the chat.

I have used online chat a few times & hate the AI assistant. I keep typing "I want to talk to a real person" & it usually gets me to an agent after a few tries.

Re: eBay is going down to drain with customer service

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-do-I-contact-Customer-Support/m-p/32016431#M1783851 -> Automated Assistant, type AGENT -> enter. You will then get more options.
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
