Frustration With Ebay Chat

I messaged once before on this subject--my frustration with Ebay Chat.

Today,  I had to message them again as I was having a problem with a buyer

in Thailand who was trying to scam me.  Because of this I had to cancel my

listing and then relist.  Interesting I do not have Thailand on a country that I

ship to and yet he was allowed to bid.  To shorten the story I messaged Ebay

Chat and in a couple of short sentences outlined my problem.  Once again,

the girl who was texting back had no understanding of my problem or what I

wanted even though I made it clear in my first sentences.  It went on and on like

this until I was so frustrated that I thanked her and discontinued the Chat.  Can they

not get people on these chats that understand or have some knowledge about how

Ebay works or be able to understand you ??   My rant for today !

This doesn't really address your concerns about eBay chat, but how do you know your buyer was trying to scam you?  Perhaps they were able to bid on your item because they had a shipping address set up in a country that you do ship to, and there's nothing necessarily scammy about that.

Re: Frustration With Ebay Chat

You are not aware of all the details involving my "Chat" and it would take too long

to explain on here.  Bottom line I needed some fees removed due to this transaction

and the "Chat" person didn't have a clue how to handle it.  I phoned later and the person

I spoke to checked things out and removed the fees.  The person in Thailand is a scammer !

Many overseas members use freight forwarders, usually based in the US, to buy on eBay, in part because US sellers are very paranoid about shipping to foreign places like Bulgaria, Canada or Hawai'i'.

The forwarders also deal with customs for their clients and seem to have more reliable delivery systems than are available to the buyers.

For eBay sellers, freight forwarders are the second safest addresses, since once delivered to the (again usually US) address, most of the Money Back Guarantee ceases to be available to the buyer.

I notice that more and more US sellers on .com do not ship to Canada.

Given that there are two sides to every story and your opening post focuses on the alleged scammer in Thailand when you later state that that wasn't even the issue you brought to eBay Chat, I can't say that I'm surprised that communication was a problem with the eBay Chat employee.

I'm not sure what this has to do with your original post.
