Can't change my email address

I'm having an issue with the email registered in eBay.

It is a hotmail address, and all mail now goes to the spam folder.

So I wish to change it to my more often used gmail address.

However, eBay's system won't let me change it because my username is same as my email address.

It's kinda dumb, since my currently used email in eBay also fits this "error".

How can I change my email? I do not have any other email to use, and I surely will not create a new email just for eBay.

Is it possible that your 'new' email address is being rejected because it's already associated with an existing account? Maybe one you forgot about? It's the first reason that comes to mind for reasons that ebay might reject your attempt to switch it.

Not in my case. I'm using the same account since wayyyyyy back when I first registered in 2001 🙂
Just to make sure that it's not what you are suggesting, I tried logging/recover using my gmail address and it doesn't work. This tells me that this email isn't used for another account.
