Hi Tyler,

Is there no way to either phone or e-mail customer service anymore?  The only option I see is for them to call me back & that just doesn't work for me. I am dealing with a lot of anxiety & stress right now & cannot deal with it.  Last month I had a non-paying buyer buy 3 large lots of jewelry & I had to put in a claim against them. I noticed I was charged an ad fee of $1.68 on one of the lots but was never refunded it back again. Is there any way for you could look into that for me. Thanks

This was a promotional ad fee?  Tyler can confirm this but I believe those fees are credited on the monthly invoices, you won't see it right away.  Sorry that you are dealing with so much stress. 😞

I was charged the Promoted Ad Fee on Oct. 29/20 but it has never been refunded on any invoice.  Shouldn't that have happened by now? I know the final value fees used to be refunded imediately.

I've heard that it takes a month or two.   I believe that it will show up under discounts and credits. I'm not sure if it will show as a separate entry or not. It's been a while since I've had one.

Hi Tyler,

Ok, first issue.  Since last week three more international customers who reside in countries that are on my blocked list in my account settings were able to buy items - Brazil, Netherlands and Sweden.   Re: the comment by someone about shipping restrictions being different in different listings of mine,  I have noticed that whether I create new listings or not, the country block list in a specific listing does not update from what is listed in account settings whenever I have changed it; it remains whatever it was when I listed it. But regardless, whatever the listing says, account settings acts as a master override for what countries can be shipped to or not.

I'll give you one of these three transaction IDs and you can tell me what happened - the fellow said he just went in and bought it no restrictions, you'll be able to tell me whether that was the case or not I'm thinking.

Here it is:

Item ID: 254776578502
Transaction ID: 2709905839015
Order number: 01-06153-27989

Thanks!

second issue:

about the multiple variation listings for CDs.  I remember the phone call very well, it probably says as much in the chat log: the CSR I spoke to did her due diligence - she confirmed with her supervisor - if I remember correctly, she did this not once, but twice - that multiple variation listings for CDs can be made, and that the problem was technical on the ebay.ca side.  She walked me thru creating exactly the kind of listing I had seen by ebay.com sellers for months.

Can you please clarify what is going on here?  If they are in fact not allowed, then all these listings that Ive seen for months on ebay.com need to come down.  There are literally hundreds of these listings, not just for CDs, but DVDs, laser discs (that was the first one I saw actually), and probably books as well.

I see your point about restricting this type of listing if it allows sellers to sneak around the back door so to speak and avoid listing fees for individual CDs if they are able to put a whole bunch into one listing.  But right now, this doesn't seem to me to be an appropriate criteria given the 100,000 free listings promos we are getting every month.  For me, my motivation for creating these types of listings was to use them solely for lower value items I have hanging around that aren't worth my time creating individual listings for (stuff under $5 Canadian) as the listing process is, as we know, cumbersome & time consuming at the best of times.  Is it possible to make an exception for these types of listings as long as each individual item is set to a low dollar value, like say, under $5?  Honestly, as I said these items aren't worth my time listing individually and if I can't list them here that way, I'll find some other forum to get rid of them, even if that means donating them to Goodwill or something.  Its a shame as people buy this stuff.  When I had them up, they were very popular - four of mine got, within a week, over 1000 hits together.  Customers really seem to like them.  Given these promos we are getting re: 100,000 free listings as sellers and many sellers like myself going "I don't have 95,000 more items to list", being able to utilize this kind of listing would be very beneficial from my perspective as a seller.

Thanks for your time and assistance!

Regarding variation listings on .ca....Is there a list of categories where variations can be used? Last week you posted a link for .com listings but I can't seem to find one for .ca listings. There used to be a .ca list somewhere as the US site does have some categories with variations that the Canadian site has never had.

Something that I noticed.... as @darak10  mentioned, the .ca site is not set up for music CD variations although the US site is. However, as you mentioned last week,  on the best practices list on the link above, it shows that the only variations allowed in the music category is for wholesale lots. But  if you go to a .com listing and make a listing in the Music  - CD's. category, there is a big box that you can click on and set up variations.

Is it supposed to be set up like that?

Hello Tyler,

Hopefully this question is entirely moot? Will eBay be affected in any way, shape or form when Adobe Flash Player is no longer compatible in Jan 2021? (I believe this relevant to how cookies  are tracked).

End of support from Microsoft in December 2020

Beginning in January 2021, Adobe Flash Player will be disabled by default and all versions older than KB4561600 released in June 2020 will be blocked. Downloadable resources related to Adobe Flash Player that are hosted on Microsoft websites will no longer be available.
Sep 4, 2020

In keeping with this plan, Microsoft is ending support for Adobe Flash Player on Microsoft Edge (both the new Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Edge Legacy) and Internet Explorer 11 at the end of 2020.

So there are no changes to Microsoft's general policy for Windows consumers regarding Flash Player, which has largely been replaced by open web standards like HTML5, WebGL and WebAssembly. Adobe also will not issue security updates after December 2020Sep 7, 2020

Will anyone using eBay need an HTML5 player etc. to conform with eBay? This is wayyy too techie for me, but have run across it at other websites with no real specifics as what to do going forward.

When I am listing on .com, for shipping to Canada for the last few years I have used the generic "standard international shipping'. Until recently, the estimated delivery time to Canada was always 'not specified' for standard shipping.  I'm glad that they have put in a date however, when I checked my listings today, the time frame for delivery in Canada is about 3-5  weeks....that's really long!

I'm certain that a long delivery time is a detriment for Canadians buying from me so I decided to change the shipping to the generic expedited international.  However, the estimated delivery for all 3 generic options is exactly the same.  I think that all 3 are using the time frame for economy instead of each having their delivery time.

The following screen shots were taken earlier today from item 353200469284.  (but all .com listings are showing the same time, it isn't an issue just for that listing.   I also took a screen shot of the delivery time to the US using 'standard shipping from outside of the US.' It's ironic that the latest a US buyer is supposed to receive an item is Dec. 17 which is 4 days earlier than the FIRST day a Canadian buyer might receive their item.

Hi @2nd-time-around-jewelry - Customer Support is still available, but via call-back options. If you that doesn't work for you right now you can always consider the social media team. I think they're really helpful and you can write them up a private message and send it (similar to an email). That way you won't get a phone call when you can't answer. eBay Canada's Facebook page is here, or you can also use Twitter, but that can take some getting used to.

Regarding the promoted listing fee, @pjcdn2005 is correct that those should be credited back as an invoice credit, usually within the next invoice. Please send the social media team a private message with your registered email address, first and last name on file and your post code as well as the details of the situation so they can look into it and make sure the credit is taken care of.

Hi Tyler, the only problem is I don't use any social media (I know people will be shocked by that). Do I have to create an account on Facebook just to get my question answered?

Hi @darak10 - this is very interesting, can you get me the other two item numbers? I'm looking into this more but need more examples to nail this down.
