Hi Tyler! This is a question mainly from a buyer's perspective, but with consequences for sellers.
I've done fairly regular buying on eBay over the years. I've set up a number of sub-lists under my Watch List. This functioned very well until just recently, when it appears the eBay programmers "redecorated" again!
Not only does it appear that everything I've carefully saved in my various lists has been wiped out except for about the last few months' worth, but the drop-down menu under the "Watch List" heading won't allow me to see further than the 4th sub-list. In other words, I can no longer access the sub-lists. This has been the case now every time I've tried over the past few weeks, so it doesn't seem to be a temporary glitch. Somebody just forgot to set the limit of the drop-down beyond 4 sub-lists I think.
As a buyer, yes, I do save things for a year or two, sometimes longer. And I do often go back and purchase. I find it highly irritating to have an item dropped off one of my lists, then have to spend time searching for it again. Sometimes I just can't be bothered. I absolutely hate eBay monkeying around with this feature. At least if items are going to be dropped off the back end, warn us! Or give us a warning up front that items will only be saved on the list for "X" months. Personally I would prefer 3 years, but that's wishful thinking.
The problem with the "Watch List" failure to drop down is another matter: it's a real problem that needs to be fixed ASAP, before buyers give up on their Watch Lists completely.
Now, putting on my seller hat, I'm really dismayed about all this. It means that anything a buyer may have saved on their list for more than a few months (or whatever the current cut-off is) will disappear off their buying radar. This includes occasional buyers who may come back months from now. They'll find my item has expired off their list, and go looking elsewhere.
As a buyer, I sometimes scroll through my lists and see something I'd meant to buy weeks or months earlier and had forgotten about -- oh, right, I should pick that up! I'm sure long-term watch lists have been a boon to many sellers, especially those who list mainly with GTC.
Or does eBay want to encourage buyers to use search so that it can better control what a buyer sees, rather than go back to favourite items? Is this perhaps related to the fact that sellers can now pay for promoted listings? Promoted listings aren't much good if buyers are scrolling through their lists rather than looking for newly listed items.
In any case, I'd appreciate if you could pass along the issue about the drop-down list and see if anyone can fix it. Thanks!

Good afternoon Tyler, I have a question about My Settings which I found when signed in on the Community boards. Under my settings I see headings such as Personal, Social, Preferences, Tagging, Macros, etc. Under Macros for instance, there is Macro 1 Title then Macro 1 followed by Macro 2 title, etc.
i have no idea what these mean. Nowhere can I find any info telling me if I should be filling in anything in these settings or even how to do this or what they even mean. Do these settings affect sales if not filled in correctly? (Probably not, but grasping at straws here.) Can you enlighten me please?

Hello Tyler,
A possible suggestion for next weeks poll question:
A wishlist improvement idea(Maybe 1 per customer only ) for eBay dot ca or if they are "on the horizon?".
Thanks,

Good evening, Tyler. Thank you for opening the thread and being here to do that.
I liked the Ask a Seller thread you created. Could you do a Buying FAQ one too? Back when we were allowed Guides, I had one written that addressed most of the confusing areas of using ebay. I thought it was useful. I bet a Top Ten Questions about Buying on eBay Answered would be good for the ebay Canada Community page too.

Hi @momcqueen! I've been thinking through the best way to do something like that after @retroman_studios suggested it on the 'Ask a Seller' thread.
My biggest concerns surround format - I want it to be clear and succinct, and also a tool that folks can use to refer other boardies too. I like the idea of a top 10, or maybe a single post with links to more detailed answers? Definitely open to input on this!

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies - would you mind expounding on that a bit more? Do you mean the 'Ask a Seller' posts? If so, I can see your point. I definitely don't want to cut anyone out of the conversation, and understand that sometimes reading someone else's post jogs your memory about a great tip you have. I'll see what I can do there.
If I'm off base on what you meant feel free to clarify! 😄

Thanks for the heads up @reallynicestamps - I'll review the thread and see if we have it reported with the devs yet (and get it reported if it hasn't been).

Hi @msmaggie060- first things first: macros do not impact your sales in any way, and you do not have to set any or use them.
Macros are essentially quick templates you can use to respond or reply to posts. A similar example would be the keyboard shortcut for 'copy' (ctrl+c) and 'paste' (ctrl+v). Some posters use custom-defined macros to quickly provide information to other posts without having to type it out.
It's probably more commonly used on the .com boards where there tend to be much more repetitive questions but as a feature of the Lithium forums it's there for us too.
I hope that helps! 🙂

Hello Tyler,
For my suggestion, I was thinking what sellers would like to see as far as it comes to improvements/additions with eBay Built-in Features & Tools. On the other side would be tools we had access to in the past, but have been removed. We know everyone has a list in the back of their minds. Some may be possible. Others may be not. Others may be very valid or may not have been suggested in the past. Maybe make it into a contest. Suggestion with the most gets suggested to management for implementation.

Hi @rose-dee! Would you mind getting me an example of what you mean by 'sub-list'? Do you mean you used to have subcategories within a specific watch list? Like, a Watch List for clothes with a subcategory of handgloves? Or do you mean you aren't able to see more than 4 of your watch lists in the drop down?
If that's the case, it may be a screen resolution issue, as the watch list drop down should display all of your current lists. Take a look to see if you can scroll further down on the right hand side and if that displays what you're looking for. (example below).
Depending on the age of the listing in question, as well as its status (if it ended, etc), it may end up getting purged not just from your watch list, but from the site in general. This is a resource driven decision, as an item that ended or sold years ago isn't something that makes sense for us to continue to host.
This scroll bar will allow you to view your other watch lists.
