Miscalculated shipping fees?

Hi, I've just purchased an item, and now the seller is saying they miscalculated the shipping cost, and is requesting I remit more money to PayPal. Please advise.

A polite note that you based your purchase on the advertised cost and therefore reluctantly have to ask for a cancellation of the sale, is appropriate here. Use the Contact Seller service, rather than a direct reply. If he asked for more through eBay Messages you can answer directly.

The point is that you want to have the request on record.

He may decide that the sale is best for him, even if he loses a little on the shipping.

If he sends you a request for a Mutal Cancellation, agree immediately.

If he starts an Unpaid Item Dispute, you have a record of his (illegal) request for additional payment on record.

But always keep it polite. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

We all make mistakes sometimes, I have miscalculated shipping rates few times but I never ask the customer to pay, I always cover it myself.  After all it's my mistake.

The seller should cover the difference, if they care about customer service.  You have the option to cancel the transaction and get your money back.

If you think the extra charge is unreasonable, email the seller and ask to cancel the transaction, and tell them that this is not good customer service.
