PS,  -  A jar of Planters is nuts.

Technically they are legumes. At least the peanuts. The cashews are nuts.

The Lettermail option will not appear as a choice in Calculated Shipping. For this option, the cheapest, you have to choose Flat Rate. Items cannot be more than 500 grams or 2 cm thick, which as noted can lead to some fancy packaging.

Shipping within Canada by Letter rates will not exceed $3.65 although that rate is actually called Oversize Lettermail.

To the USA the highest shipping would be $7.40 and Overseas would be a whopping $14.80 for the 500 gram package.

These services are not insured or Delivery Confirmed, but this is not important. If you want, add a few pennies to your shipping and Handling fee to cover the very occasional loss.

EBay gets all weird about using DC but they are looking at USPS services where DC costs 13 cents as an option on any shipment.

Sometimes ignoring eBay is good for your mental health and that of your waller.

Hi 'stancad',

Aaah, the bane of the aspiring Canadian online seller, - the cost of Canada Post. 🙂

You are right that the price seems excessive for the items, and hence some things are not profitable enough to sell on ebay, - like schlocky thrillers and romance novels.  Not when those are readily available in every Church rummage sale 'discard' bin.

With something like those comic books, it might be better to group them into bigger lots if you can, - more than 2.  Do you have more than 2?  I've seen groups of 10 or 12 (or more) go in auctions, because whilst the shipping fee will naturally be higher, it may be offset by the greater number of items.

Still, if you wrap them thin and small enough so they fit through that little 'lettermail' slot at the post office (maybe side-by-side 'saran-wrapped' to a slab of gatorfoam), then maybe the 2 could go lettermail.  If you've done that and it's still 9 bucks, well, that's Canada Post.

Shipping cost is based on the size and weight of an item,it has nothing to do with the cost of the item. Canada Post also has shipping rates that are significantly higher than USPS.
