Strike two: Paypal's fee on Instant Payment + no AVS

Before I get to this topic,  I apply for preferred rate and was rejected by an automated reply - bcuz some vague criteria I must make 3000CAD per month in sales.  Well, my 60-days sales right now total 12000+CAD.

O_O.  Why in blazes does Paypei, that is the new Pompei of Ebay, is chomping on "instant payment" from a PP balance?  Where is the processing involved? None. Just easy money for the fatcats.

Once it hits strike three, I am outa here.

Second topic: I sorta tested the security ot Pappei, every purchased from my CC was never verified with the billing address. An address I purposedly used as an incorrect one.  Amazon and other online retailers use AVS.  The CC/Bank confirmation method is solid but Paypei does not enforce it - but  SHOULD enforce it.

Pardon my language.  I have very little temperance for these things.

the fee is: 2.9% for domestic, and 3.9% for non-domestic.

I dont consdier rolling the cost into the listing feasible since potentail buyers are more experience at knowing this and will not bid or make offers.

You do realize that eBay and PayPal are now separate companies.  So any sales $$ has to be what PayPal shows -- not what eBay shows.  And I thought the merchant minimum limit was $3000USD per month.

...

When the current agreements run out eBay will be switching to a different payment handler.

...

Instant payment is not no cost -- it has comes with extras (Buyer/Seller protection) even if you don't want them.

Paypal's processing fee is 30 cents for each payment plus 2.9% of the total payment.

I am not sure if the 3.9% applies to Canadian sellers, since we are already 'international' in the view of Paypal. It may only apply to US dollar transactions or to non-US transactions.

Standard Canadian seller paypal fees:

Canadian buyer -- 30 cents CAD plus 2.9%

US buyer -- "base fee determined by currency received" plus 3.7%

rest of the world -- "base fee determined by currency received" plus 3.9%

Base fee for US$ is 0.30 USD,  for UK pounds it is 0.20 UKP, ...

Original poster was hoping for merchant discounted rates:

https://www.paypal.com/ca/webapps/mpp/ua/provt-full?locale.x=en_CA

$3000-$12000/month would be 0.4% less expensive

over $12000/month would be 0.7% less expensive

but that merchant privilege does come with a monthly fee and credit checks.

I just love 'free' options that come with a monthly fee.

Like the 'free' listings that come with a Store.

Nuh-uh.

They are three to five cents each, depending on store type.

A nice discount from 30 cents, but not free.
