Anyone successfully linked EQ Bank to PayPal?

Hi All,

I linked my PP account with EQ Bank. The test transactions went through and I received an email indicating that the account was successfully linked.  A day later, I received an email saying that the Bank Account was invalid.

I phoned PayPal and they indicated that the system flagged the bank as "bad" (their words, not mine) and the account couldn't be used. No further action could be take, so I'm out of luck.

Has anyone successfully done this?

I can't comment, never had any business EQ but interested to see how others chime in.

I'd get in touch with EQ Bank customer service to see what they have to say, as the website does say that a PayPal account can be linked.

Could the problem be the type of bank account you were trying to link?

More important, as a sometime seller, would be learning if this bank can be used with Managed Payments.

At the moment the only online banks I have heard mentioned were Simplii and Tangerine, with a note that Tangerine cannot be used by Quebec residents.

As a buyer, this might be good to keep in mind.

If you're looking to do some online shopping using PayPal, you can pull money from your EQ Bank account to fund your purchase. Keep in mind, you'll need to wait 3 to 5 business days for the money to become available in your PayPal account.

Although basically that just says you are writing an "e-cheque" that must clear in much the same way as a paper cheque would.  Although this is nothing new, it annoys most sellers and panicks newbies.

Thanks for the insight.  Was able to set up an account at Tangerine and link it no problem. The EQ Bank rep indicated that they have had customers that had some issues linking to PayPal and are looking into it.
