So I transferred my banking over from RBC to Tangerine thinking I made sure nothing was linked but forgot about eBay. Tried to simply connect my Tangerine account and was met with "bank not supported. please add another account". I dont have another account. I've spent tons of time on here browsing solutions and see as early as a few weeks ago canadians mentioning tangerine is fine. And before anyone asks:
-Yes its a chequing account
-Yes my names and addresses match exactly
-Yes its a CAD account and I'm trying to be paid in CAD

After speaking with 5 eBay payment reps 2 of them have confirmed that Tangerine is no longer a supported bank and is on a list of "unsupported routing and transit numbers". The only option I've been provided is to open a new bank account. When I asked what happens to my money if I don't I'm told "well it would sit there until you do because we can't issue it anywhere". As if I don't have a properly linked paypal or Mastercard. The other three told me that "there should be no issue". This company is the devil and I can't wait to get its greedy little claws out of me.

Don’t know what to tell you but I’ve been using tangerine for years and just got a payment this week. It does in fact work.

Were you speaking on the phone to one of the subcontracted clerks? or were you Chatting on one of eBay's social media accounts which are covered by eBay employees who are well-trained and have some authority?

Did you ask the rep if they were familiar with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce  which (I think ) is the Tangerine parent company?

It's the long weekend so referring this to a pink may be delayed

Has the online Canadian bank Tangerine been dropped as a possible choice with Managed Payments?

Hi @femmefan1946! Let me reach out to someone on the Managed Payments team to see and I will update you once I hear back!

@femmefan1946 I was able to get some clarification from our Managed Payments team on this and they said that we should accept any valid CA bank account. If they are running into issues that they can manually input the information and then provide a bank statement to get approved.

Can you pass this on to the CS folks so they are on the same page with this? They shouldn't be giving sellers incorrect/inaccurate information. (See post 1...5 agents...Differing answers).  I realize that the back up go to is Facebook/Twitter but not everyone has an account. Maybe Ayden should have  some sort of dedicated support similar to what was available with PayPal?  As for issues such as these, In past research there is nothing that I could find in eBay(ca) help as what to do when there are problems. Keyword...Problems. Most importantly...What to do when things STOP working correctly. And this has been reported regularly.

Yes, I'm still salty that one of my Simplii connections was suddenly denied after working perfectly on two of my selling accounts for months.

I want to switch back from the household account I moved to, because I want to keep that income separate but I don't want to get into another protracted fuss.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! Thank you for this feedback. I have went ahead and passed this along to the correct teams through our customer support. It is important that we try to be as consistent as possible when giving out information for help so I apologize to @kazcards for the back and forth they have been going through.

devon@ebay So I called what I think I'm safe to assume is the "managed payments" team (since they called me stating they were from there), and they once again told me tangerine is not accepted. They're telling me others have been grandfathered in and that its no longer accepted. When I told them of your post they told me they would email or call me back in a day or two in case something is wrong on their end.

I just want my money. Can you have someone who actually knows what they're talking about contact me? Or is the managed payments team also useless.

I'd also like to add that it seems the advice of contacting via facebook or twitter isnt particularly helpful as they just directed me back to the ebay help page when I asked about payments and wiped their hands of it.

If I may butt in, I think we need to consider that this may be as much (if not more) Tangerine's doing than eBay's.  Tangerine has received a smattering of bad press for its handling of internet fraud, and disentangling itself from eBay's Managed Payments may be a reaction to security and/or PR concerns.

As for the "I just want my money" issue, not to put too fine a point on it, but you have been told what to do if you want to receive your pending payouts: open another bank account.  PayPal isn't a bank, so Managed Payments can't direct your payouts there.  Credit card companies don't seem to like third parties depositing funds into credit card accounts (PayPal got its wrist slapped for offering that option in its early days), so your accumulated payouts going to your MasterCard is a no-go, too.

Credit unions don't seem to get much mention in conjunction with Managed Payments, but I think they're worth considering if you can find one that has a fair bit of muscle to flex.  I've used one in conjunction with my PayPal account for years with no issues, and it's now blazing trails as Canada's first federal credit union, so it may be worth consideration.

As @marnotom! suggests, the best and fastest way to get your money is to open a bank account that is definitely supported.  Many of them are free and can be opened online.  I believe other sellers have mentioned using Simplii which is owned by CIBC.

See post 5 and response from Devon. It appears the OP is receiving bad information or there is a glitch. There are many sellers that are using Tangerine without issue.

I've read the thread and I also use Tangerine.   The op has been told a few times that it is no longer an option to sign up using Tangerine.  I have no idea what the truth is but they have been going back and forth. on this for at least a week. IMO  it would be worth while to look at other options rather than spending more time on this.  Of course that is up to them, it was just a suggestion.

See also post 9 which contains information communicated directly to the OP by someone stating that they're with the Managed Payments Team.

The explanation that those who linked Tangerine chequing accounts to Managed Payments in the past are grandfathered seems reasonable to me and would explain some of the confusion/inconsistency in explanations from staff members and contracted out phone reps who may not have received the memo on this development.

Because sellers with established Tangerine-Adyen connections are being allowed to keep this connection and that Tangerine has received some bad press over internet fraud, I'm hypothesizing that it's actually Tangerine who's not allowing new connections to Managed Payments.  If it were eBay/Adyen, it seems more likely (given eBay's new emphasis on safety and security) that they'd want all sellers using Tangerine to give up their Tangerine chequing accounts and find alternatives, despite how messy and ugly this would look and pan out.  I'm probably dead-wrong, of course.

Hi @kazcards! Once again we do apologize about the issues you are having with your payouts. In this case you would have to continue to work with our Managed Payments team. I did reach back out to a specialist and what they said is as long as its a valid CA bank we would accept it. Just as @marnotom! mentioned I would reach out to Tangerine to see if they are having issues on their end as well.

And are banks being reverse flagged and blocked after sellers enroll? There are a limited number of banks in Canada that don't have extra charges if you go over your limit of monthly transactions. This could be a concern for many Canadian sellers.

Convinced at this point the term"valid CA bank" is what the catch up is here. I called managed payments 3 times yesterday and spoke with 3 seperate people who stated that tangerine isnt supported. When I asked why there are several people on the forums who do infact have tangerine accounts that accept payouts they essentially shrugged and told me they don't know and couldn't find out.

devon@ebay I need you to understand how ridiculous this is. I'm talking to managed payments who's telling me its not possible but you're talking to them and they're saying it is. But you can't get the people who can supposedly do it to contact me. I also can't speak to someone higher up at managed payments. I can't file a complaint to request a call back from someone who can look into this. I've been railroaded by your services and my earned money, for goods I have shipped, is sitting in your possession while I change my payout timing to stop you from sending it to a dead account which you also can't remove.

And if I call Tangerine what am I supposed to say? I use my bank account with Tangerine on several different websites for both buying and selling. The only issue exists with eBay. They can't reach over to your server and make you support them.

Also for the people suggesting I open a new account I'm in the process reluctantly. The best(worst) part of that is managed payments support can't even tell me a bank which is supported. And looking at the forums is useless as we can see here with several members referencing their actively connected tangerine accounts. One of the reps literally told me "capital one is a great bank several people use it" until I had to remind her for a 2nd time I'm Canadian.  So I guess I'll just play no fee bank account roulette until I satisfy eBay.

Couldn't agree with you more.  Something's gone on that has somehow changed Tangerine's "status".

I have to sympathize with the front-line people you spoke to here.  If this is a security issue, there's only so much information that they're going to be fed on this.  And let's face it, if you found out why Tangerine is no longer being supported by Managed Payments, would you be able to do anything about it?  Cue Jack Nicholson screaming in character about someone not being able to handle the truth and all that.  😉

I wish posters would confirm that when they say they "spoke" that they are dealing with the phone clerks, who are, as mentioned above, subcontractors and poorly trained.

If the poster was connecting through social media, the (stupid in my opinion) term Chat would let the reader know that the poster was at least dealing with actual employees.
