I had a shipment coming from Future Shop besides their bogus "order before midnight and have it tomorrow" scam, when you get to the final page of checkout there is a box that tells you "Did we say next day, oh we meant next day except when we are busy like right now".....
Anyway, I did order before midnight on Wednesday, didn't get the order processed notice until Friday afternoon and it was sent via Canada Post which would never arrive the same day no matter what time of year it was, Tracking only showed that the label had been printed but no indication of Canada Post actually having it.
This morning at around 5:00am I checked again and could see that Friday evening it got it's first scan from CP and was showing a delivery date of Monday. Just now I had another look and lo and behold at 6:32am there was another scan and then at 12:59 today an attempted delivery / card left scan. (I was sleeping at 12:59!).
Didn't realize Canada Post had already started their Christmas rush Sunday delivery schedule. I hope the box doesn't get lost overnight as it sits in the back of the truck waiting for my postal outlet to open.
Future Shop - 3 Stars
Canada Post - 4.5 stars (they would have gotten 5 if they had knocked louder at the door).
If you are wondering....yes there was a card left in my mailbox, available for pick-up at the PO after 1:00pm Monday.

They tried to deliver a parcel at 1 a.m.? Wow. But I do think that some people would be
very irate if they did get woken up for a parcel delivery.
I know they beef up service here under Christmas. Instead of picking
up packages at the postal outlet once a day, they pick them up twice a day.
But they still don't leave the sorting plant until sometime in the evening. They
might do more than I'm not aware of.
As far as delivering packages at the door...never. We have a super box and they
don't even try to deliver it, they just put the "attempted delivery" card in the super box
and then I have to wait until the next day to pick it up at the postal outlet.

it was 12:59PM, at 12:59AM I would have been wide awake and heard the knock Actually I'd be thrilled is ALL mail delivery was done at 1:00am, I'd never miss them if that was the case.

Well, at least I can say there's one advantage to living in the countryside -- our "mail lady" drives into our driveway and honks the horn if there's a parcel. She knows it takes me a couple of minutes to get to the door from the back of the house, so she waits. And our regular mail goes into our little red country mailbox at the end of the driveway -- of course who knows when that service will have to be stopped for economic reasons. I hear CP is considering cutting rural home delivery.
Still, at least so far, being here is ironically better in terms of parcel delivery than when we lived in Victoria, BC and had "super boxes" a couple of blocks away and a postie who didn't know us. Like you, I would generally never get my parcels the day they were available, just a delivery card. I'd often get home from work, find a card in the box, but in reality not be able to get the parcel until the following evening when I'd get home from work again because the parcel had been in the truck until the driver finished his rounds and returned to the P.O. It usually wasn't a terribly serious issue, but there were at least two occasions on which the P.O. clerk (well, it was a drugstore counter) couldn't locate the parcel after it had been brought back by the driver. Now that upset me!

Oh...lol. Well I read that one wrong. I should have known that actually, you do seem to be a night hawk like I am. Although...I can't say that I'm usually sleeping at 12:59 p.m.

LOL -- I'm usually awake by that time, too. I'm definitely the night owl in our house. My husband turns in at 11:00, and in the wintertime during the coldest nights, it's my job to keep the fire going in the wood furnace, so being up until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. isn't out of the question.
The fun thing is that when I get tired of late movies, being in Atlantic time, I can always chat online with pals on the West Coast (or on these boards, for that matter). There must have been a few on these boards surprised at seeing posts from me at 2:30 a.m.
