So I ran the eBay Active Content Scanner on my listings on this ID. Only one item was identified and it was the Yellow Category.

Targets Only If the "Repair Links" option has been selected in settings, then items with only link issues will turn yellow. Links that are missing target="_blank", or that supply a different target, will trigger the flag and will be corrected in the revision file.

Immediately I was lost. Anyway, I clicked on that one item and, as instructed, selected Examine > Remove Active Content > Scan . The revised item was available in a Pop-Up View (it looked the same as the original) and I selected the Revise button. I was then taken to my listing which was already in the Revise mode and I submitted the revisions. When I ran the scan again, the same item was highlighted. I'm not aware of what was supposed to have been removed but which the tool did not in fact remove, so I don't know how to be careful with future listings. But since it was only one listing that might be removed by eBay, I wasn't too concerned.

BUT, when I ran the scanner on my media account, 183 yellow targets showed up. When I opened the Bulk Active Content Editor for eBay Listings BETA , I couldn't even understand the instructions:

Does anyone have expertise with this tool or any advice you can offer me. I dread the thought of revising each one individually, particularly when I can't recognize the active content.

Colour me confused as well.

I've used Auctiva for over a decade, so hopefully this may be of some help.

Sometime in June, Auctiva did replace all prior versions of their scrolling gallery in all active listings. But that's the key -- did you ever "copy" any of your listings that were originally created on Auctiva and re-create them directly on eBay? I did this with quite a few of mine. If so, Auctiva won't find and fix them. It's also likely that if you created listings on Auctiva that were sold, and then you used those listings to create new listings, they wouldn't have been recognized by Auctiva. In other words, if you haven't created every single listing as a new listing on Auctiva, chances are the chain to Auctiva will have been broken and they won't be able to "find" and fix it for you.

However, my understanding is that eBay is in the process of cleaning up all active content on its site. So even though some of the old scrolling galleries may still look as if they are there, the active coding will be gone, and they probably won't work as they used to.

It is possible to remove the scrolling gallery from old listings (make sure you don't pick listings that are still active on Auctiva though -- print out a list if you need to cross-reference, before you start removing the galleries).

To remove a scrolling gallery, go to the listing on eBay, select "Revise Listing", then go to the "Description" section within the eBay SYI screen and choose the "Standard" editing (i.e. not HTML -- unless you can deal with HTML).

When you've located the scrolling gallery, you can right-click on (or through) it, hit the "Delete" button on your computer, and it will be gone, along with all the coding attached to it. For good measure, I'd remove the blank line above and below it if possible -- make sure there isn't any important text there first.

I just finally gave up on Auctiva as another 200+ listings only showed the 1st image for each listing.

I had to reload Turbo Lister so I could edit the US listings as you can't revise them from the Canadian site and the US site to revise images is a joke.

Just in case any one is interested, this is what Auctiva puts on a listing descrtiption for a simple listing with no images in the description area:

And, yes I know that many people like Auctiva as I did at one time but due to all the issues with images, they are no longer suited for me.

And on top of that, they don't notify you if you list a duplicate and you have to move solds manually out of save listings so as not to relist it

It may be OK if you list on one site and don't play with your listings but if you list on 2 sites and have auctions and fixed they you constantly have to deal with, It is very time consuming.

I will use Turbo Lister as long as I can and then see what happens or if it goes away.

Auctiva has new templates, where one has to specify how many photos are to be put in a listing, and then where they will be placed in a .listing.

The first photo will always show... The gallery photo.

The new templates are more appropriate for mobile-app viewers of a listing

I don't use a template and added them to the Ebay portion and not at the top for Auctiva as I did not want any in the description

What problem with pictures are you referring to at Auctiva? I can put up to 12 pictures into the ebay gallery on Auctiva.

Plus I don't have that code in my listings but then I don't use the scrolling gallery, I find it annoying.

I put my pictures in the lower section with the description to the left and the photos in a column to the right.

Having one's listing description in text n a column to the left should make it easy for mobile-app users to read the description

There is also an option to have one photo at the top of the description, and the rest of the photos at the bottom of a listing.

In this manner, photos are always visible on eBay... and ......clicked to enlarge the photos

I am also able to have no photos at the top of a listing, just under the top gallery photo as it is on eBay, where they used to be when Turbolister was used.

I am having no problem with Auctiva..... I find listing a lot easier with Auctiva than Turbolister...

Tubolister died for me three years ago and I will never look back... only move forward with Auctiva

Between a camera, a scanner and some text I can list reasonably quickly with Auctiva

The active content... scrolling gallery was removed from all listings on eBay by Auctiva ..... and replaced if that is what was wanted... with non active content scrolling gallery

I had stopped having the scrolling gallery on my listings..... Also no counter.... For me the scrolling gallery was a useless add-on.

Pictures on Auctiva can be added in 2 places.

On Auctiva at the top which puts them on Ebay and all of them in the Auctiva description which I don't use.

Below the Auctiva pictures there is a small box to check to only put them on Ebay which is what I use.

That is what I have been doing after I sorted out the mess with imported Ebay listings missing all the pictures and being very small.

You can read all about it on the Auctiva forum which is dead and has been for a long time.

All my listings are in the saved listing section and all are listed from there

All my images were added to the Saved listings and listed from there. When 250 were listed fixed price, only 1 image was posted to Ebay which is garbage. I just got tired of all the issues and closed my account.

I have resurrected my Turbo Lister with a fresh install and added all the images today that were missing. Turbo allows you to do it to live listings while Auctiva does not. Auctiva will also only let you use 1 ID.

I have a hunch TL will be around a lot longer than they told us as an update was just done in July/17. The Seller Hub still has far too many issues and is not even in Canada yet because we do not rate with Ebay. How will the seller hub work with multiple ID's and listing sites or will it at all?

I will ask Tyler on Wednesday as he is on the US boards as well.

As I said before, I originally used Auctiva since it's inception and then went to TL because it was free. I went back to Auctiva when the TL announcements were made and have regretted it due to all the hours I have wasted fixing their image issues.

I am happy for the people still using Auctiva and that are happy with it.

Ok, so the problem was with imported listings, not newly created ones. It would be a pain to fix all of that.

I asked Auctiva if I could use two different id's on one account and they told me how do it. But...that was a few years ago and I never got around to doing it so things must have changed.

No, the imported was the issue at the beginning which I spent weeks fixing.

The issue I just went through was 250 listings in the saved listings with images added in the saved listings did not post to Ebay from Auctiva.

So I had all those listings with only 1 image, and there is no way to add images live unless you add them so they show in the description..

As far as multiple ID's, it is only possible by setting up a separate ID on Auctiva which they can do for you free, but the image space is limited to 500 megs.

Not sure why they are still restricting images in this day and age for any plan. I think they are the only listing program that still does.

Just as an aside, you had to take all the imported listings and move them to saved, That also destroyed all the shipping and exclusion info as well as images. I originally had to redo all the shipping and all the images for about 1400 listings.

Thank you Rose for your detailed solution, the thing is, the only Auctiva product I use is the Scroll.

All my items were created on ebay using their forms. The JavaScript was in their old selling form, as the listings ebay said had problems were almost all old listings. Some were newer as I had hit sell similar to create them.

So ebay made me spend a couple of hours taking out something that they had put on the old selling form, not a happy camper, but at least it is now done.

I haven't checked to see if they pass the smell test according to the "check you items for active content" form on the other thread.At this point, I really don't care.

PS- the advertising seems to be helping, as my sales have taken off.
