Advanced search

As of this morning "advanced search" (top right corner) no longer allows search for sellers, only items and listing #.  When I click on seller, it jumps to the bottom of the page.  Is this another way to force searches away from sellers,  straight to the items.

I didn't realize that is what you meant when you said it wasn't working.

Just to confirm, are you first checking off  'show items from'?  The field is grayed out until you check that off.

I see what you mean.

I suspect it's a glitch.

It's unbelievable how many "glitches" here every day.  There must be techs just "fixing" stuff that's not broken.  It appears another poster here also has issues with searches.

I see 2 ways to search for seller.

Advanced - scroll down and there is a section to search for a seller.  I’m not sure if this is the one that you are referring to but it’s working for me.

or

On the left side of the search page there is a search by seller option....you may have to click on more refinements first.

A personal note to eBay.  Leave well enough alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it.  Stop making changes that no one wants & instead concentrate on fixing all the glitches that we have to deal with daily.

Neither of those ways work for you?

No, others here say it doesn't work for them either.

It works fine when you go through "saved sellers" then view listings, then advanced search. Completed listings is still an option.

I don't usually search for sellers, as in the past there were always codes I had to put in to complete the search. Every listing has a save the seller option, which is what I use, if I find they are selling interesting items.

Some of my watches are also used to get back to a certain seller quickly, of course the watched items fall off when sold.

If I have the sellers name there is no way to find their listings now.  A friend opened an ebay site and wanted me to check it out.  That does not seem to be an option any more.  Without a listing # there is no way to specifically search sellers.  More secrecy,  there is such paranoia that somehow, we will be able to actually communicate with each other.

The other two options that I described plus the option you were describing in your first post does work, just not in the way you are used to. You said that the page jumps down and it does jump down to an area that you can check off to search for a seller.   I'd be surprised if it actually isn't working that way for you as it works on my ipad and on two different browsers on my pc.

As I showed above, it is still possible to find a seller, just in a different way than what you are used to so in this case, I don't think that paranoia or secrecy is an issue.

No, I get what you're showing, but I cannot type in those fields.  The search works fine to search items and #, jut not sellers.  I've been trying on and off all day.  It's not rocketscienc.  I'll try again later, if still nothing, I give up.

Ok, thanks.  As I never used the bottom of the page, the options at the top  worked for me.  I don't have saved sellers, and I'm not a buyer, there would be no need for me to use the options featured, but now I see I need to go through the steps just to get to any seller.  Thanks for the heads up.

Did you try clicking on the box beside: show only items from? If you click on the box a check mark will show and then you can type in a seller's id.

EBay loves throwing new things out there without letting us know how to use them.  Pretty soon we are all going to have to take advanced computer technician courses to be able to get around on their site.  It must be a total nightmare for new members. My new member buyers are always emailing me because they have nothing but problems trying to purchase multiple items. I wonder how many just give up and not bother buying anything. Talk about putting a damper on purchasing.
