An MP update on US dollar payout capabilities

An update on US dollar payout capabilities

In late spring, we will expand our payout functionality to allow sellers registered on eBay.ca to choose to receive payouts in US dollars. At that time, sellers will receive more details on how to register or update their current information if they have already registered. Please note that a US dollar denominated chequing account from a Canadian bank will be required to use this functionality https://pages.ebay.ca/seller-centre/news/seller-updates/2021-spring/financials.html.

Re: An MP update on US dollar payout capabilities

Since we are just guessing at this point.........

I'll guess you can have payouts in US Dollars OR CA Dollars, this would satify all the sellers who list on one site exclusively but it would no longer matter which site.

For seller who want to list on both .ca and .com concurrently they may need two selling id's, one for .com and one for .ca

But I'm just SPECULATING! (I just don't see eBay setting up multiple currency payouts with the same selling account).

The really big bonus here is that you can use US Dollars and have those funds deposited into a CANADIAN based US Dollar account. That is something that has never been possible before.

Re: An MP update on US dollar payout capabilities

True, this solution is meant to address the legitimate concerns of those that prefer to sell (and buy inventory) exclusively in USD, it does sound like it should provide a solution for those folks.

What this solution does NOT address are the legitimate concerns of those who desire the flexibility of trading in multiple currencies. To continue with multiple currencies in MP will require developing a separate account for each currency. This is not a financially attractive option if a store subscription or third party listing service are needed for the additional account.

As with everything ebay, we will have to wait and see what develops from this, but the use of the term "choose" in the announcement seems a pretty clear indication that a choice will be involved, choose USD, or choose CAD.
