Another buyer taking advantage

I was selling a pair of brand new shoes for CA$135 plus calculated shipping.

Last weekend I receive an offer for $100. Too low I think, so I counteroffer for $110. Buyer sends me a counteroffer for the exact same amount. Oh well, I though, some people are just weird. So I accept.

Buyer pays a couple hours later and I shipped the shoes this morning.

Next thing I know this afternoon, two days after payment, I get a message from the buyer saying his offer was for FREE SHIPPING and he is all shocked that he was charged for shipping, which to his location was about $15.

So wait a minute. This guy sends me an offer for $100 + $15 shipping, which I refuse, and then he pretends his $110 counteroffer was for free shipping? So a lower counteroffer than his initial offer? As I said, some people are just weird.

I reply in a message that my listing was NOT free shipping and that he should have seen the total cost before he paid (he should have, right?). He replies that he will be happy if I reverse the $15 for shipping.

I know, it's just $15, but this is a typical infuriating case where I am feeling like taken advantage of. I have no intention to fight, I'll send the $15 back because I don't want bad feedback. But what do you think guys? Ebay will do nothing for me, for sure.

Buyers cannot ask for free shipping after purchase. It’s a reportable offense. Check your Offer history to make sure you didn’t make the mistake, and then ignore them. DO NOT REFUND THEM THEIR POSTAGE COST. Doing so will simply encourage them to keep trying this tactic with other sellers. Buyers aren’t allowed to leave negative feedback for something not included in the offer. You can have any negative appealed.

Are you sure you didn't see "including shipping" in the best offer comments section before you accepted the offer?

I made this mistake once by overlooking the  best offer comment section but honored the request.

Since that time, I make sure I thoroughly go over the best offer details before I accept any offer.

Now, he may not of left a comment in the best offer details but is it worth the trouble over 15.00? Probably not....

If your 100% sure he/she didn't leave a comment then block the buyer and move on.

yes , double check his offer, normally shipping is not included in any offer, but the buyer can certainly put it in the offer then, you have to consider it..  If you check the accepted offer and there is no mention of shipping included, then the buyer is at fault.. if it is in there then it is up to you to make it right..

If it isn't in there then you have to decide if you want the item coming back to you for many reasons, is it worth it?

my listing was NOT free shipping and that he should have seen the total cost before he paid (he should have, right?).

So he saw the invoice.

He paid the invoice.

And NOW he is saying that he wanted free shipping?

Call customer service, get a case number, and explain the problem.

If he opens a case, you will have his Messages to prove that this is a Buyer Remorse situation, and while you are willing to refund in full, he will have to return the shoes on his own dime.

And make sure the rep notes that the shoes are brand new and never worn, just in case he was renting them for an event.

Don't give in by sending back the $15. Double check your offer history to make sure you didn't agree to free shipping by accident, and if you are in the right, then call eBay customer's service.
