Anyone Embedded a youtube link in a listing?

Does anyone have any experience with embedding a youtube link in to a listing?  I am listing a bit of an odd vintage turntable and providing a short video showing it operating would be a great benefit.

The listing will be on .com and the .com eBay policy shows that this is allowed:

Videos must be embedded within item descriptions and are only allowed from sites on this list
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Brightcove
  • Ustream
  • Screencast
  • Kizoa
  • DailyMotion

There is info on the web on how to embed but hearing from anyone who  has done it would be great.

Lots comes up in searches, and I created an eBay OK link at  https://www.isdntek.com/tagbot/YouTubeConverter.htm .  This site is referenced a lot in eBay chats and it works well.

I copied the code it generated from my youtube link and put it into the description and that works well.  Note that it does not work in preview, so I scheduled the listing so that I could test the code and link and it is good.  This will be for an auction starting tonight and will post it up when it is live if you want to see the presentation of the link.

Still curious to hear from anyone who uses videos and where they have been or not been useful.

When you click on SHARE in the YouTube video, click on EMBED...

Copy all of the embed code...

When you are in your listing you will need to choose the HTML tab in the item description section in order to paste the html code from YouTube. To make it easier add a place holder in Standard like: PLACE YOUTUBE HERE so you can find the spot you want to add the video when you click HTML tab. Paste the YouTube embed code there. I haven't added videos in over a decade but my son taught me how and I think it's still the same based on the embed code and html tabs in item description..

Re: Anyone Embedded a youtube link in a listing?

Hi, I did try it but that will not work in eBay as it has frames.  You need to take the code you outlined and pop it into  https://www.isdntek.com/tagbot/YouTubeConverter.htm and that will give you a frames free code and link.

I did have embed in the my title, but it is actually a link that is in compliance with eBay policy.

My scheduled listing with the video link is below, though I don't know if it will show yet or not for anyone else.

Re: Anyone Embedded a youtube link in a listing?

Ok, sorry. I thought it was all still the same since it all looked the same with regards to the YouTube code and html tab. lol

Ebay should just update their listing form to have a place to just paste the youtube link and it converts it to ebay compliant code to embed. You'd think after all these years they would.

Yeah, your scheduled listing won't show until it is listed.

Re: Anyone Embedded a youtube link in a listing?

It was such a long time ago that I used video. I recall I used it once to show a childrens train still worked and also another time to show a vintage video game still worked.

I think video is a good way to show something is still in working order.

ebay.com apparently is rolling out a new listing tool to upload videos:

Re: Anyone Embedded a youtube link in a listing?

I've used the isdntek method, works fine, the Video appears as a link to a new page, there is no way around that.

eBay has a new system for adding a video to a Store but I don't think it works for video in an individual listing and I'm not even sure if this is available on .ca or if it's a .com only thing.

And no, only you can see a scheduled listing.

I had seen a message bubble on .com at the top of the page whendoing a listing to try out the new video tool, but of course when I wanted to try it I no longer saw it.   I did a search in help and found info about adding a video but it was not that clear and overly complicated.  Perhaps that is background for when the tool is ready.

This way worked well and was easy.   The auction isn't live until 9:30 est tonight, thanks for letting me know about visibility - that really is what it should be!
