Buyer's Protection Plan

I bought a dozen excellent high priced hockey cards on eBay - from one seller.  This seller did what many do.  He listed the cards to start at 99 cents.  Must have been a slow day, because I bought the cards for 99 cents each.

A month later, no cards have arrived.  Messaged seller.  No reply.  Filed a claim on PayPal.

The lack of a reply tells me that the seller regretted the sale and decided not to mail the cards.  He knew that eventually, he could just refund the payment.  But, this doesn't make sense.  Why not reply; say they must have got lost on the mail and refund my money?

Bottom line.  I bought the cards in good faith.  I paid for the cards.  I could have resold these cards for an excellent profit.  It would be nice if there was a financial penalty to the seller - a fine of some kind - that would make sellers think twice about not fulfilling their part of the bargain.

"It would be nice if there was a financial penalty to the seller"

There is - in a way.

If every buyer in a similar situation were to leave negative feedback and appropriate low DSRs. the seller would be facing financial consequences - loss of TRS status and FVF discount and/or suspension of selling privileges.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason - most buyers simply refuse to leave negative feedback even when well deserved.

The system can only work if everyone participates fully.

Re: Buyer's Protection Plan

I have rarely left negative feedback.  I think some buyers use it indiscriminately.

In this case, the seller will get negative feedback and low DSR's.

I am guessing the buyer is aware of this and doesn't seem to care.

On the other hand, maybe he is sick or dead (in which case, feedback won't matter) and can't answer.

Re: Buyer's Protection Plan

Sure leave negative feedback and then the seller will do like most others (and the suggestion a power seller has given to others)

JUST START A NEW SELLER ID!!!!

Start a new Seller ID?  Hmm, I was told by one of US sellers that it is NOW becoming more harder and harder to get another ID usernames due to so many abused by using way too many id usernames for one person.  I knew of a few of them that have up to 9 names for one person each!  They are buyers/sellers that scam and are unpaid item bidders.

Re: Buyer's Protection Plan

Thw whole feedback system stinks. Buyers don't want to leave bad feedback because they get reported and Ebay punishes them for being honest. A lot of sellers are at the point that they don't care as buyers are shafting them with Ebay's support. There is too much game playing on Ebay by both buyers and sellers and it will only get worse, not better.
