I got a refund cheque from Canada Post for a late delivery,
only to see it was written to my "account username" for my
CP online profile, but nothing else, such as my name or address,
both of which are in my CP profile as the "owner".
I thought the "account username" was just for login purposes.
It is not "hot_lips_69", but it is pretty close.
Picture a cheque written to "hot_lips_69" followed by nothing else.
From a crown corporation. Seriously.
A cheque without your name is useless.
My bank said send it back.
The stub of the cheque has the "account username"
followed by my address, so it got to me.
Has this happened to others?

When I was a bank teller, we were told to have the depositor sign with the incorrect name then with the correct name.
And only for deposit, never for cash.
The modern way would be the ATM deposit where no human eyes are involved.

As other's have said, stick it in the ATM, you'll be fine.

The cheques are all computer generated, no human eyes involved.
Your bank teller gave bad advice.
It has been awhile since I had a basic law course, but for cheque like that you endorse (sign) with the name on the cheque and with your correct name.
Businesses do it all the time when the legal company name is not the same as the company operating name.
...
If you feel like complaining to Canada Post they do have contact information on their website. Either by phone or by opening a problem ticket online.
