I’m in the process of setting shipping rates and I have a question. If I decided to buy my postage from Ebay, do you know the percentage discounts off the published Canada Post list prices I would receive for each of the following services:
Canada Post Shipping From Canada To Canada
Standard Size Mail - Up to 50 g
Non-Standard And Oversize Mail - Up To 500 g
Regular Parce
Expedited Parce
Xpresspost
Priority
Canada Post Shipping From Canada To USA
Standard Size Mail - Up To 50 g
Non-Standard And Oversize Mail - Up To 500 g
Small Packet - Air
Tracked Packet
Expedited Parcel
Xpresspost
Priority Worldwide.
If you don’t know the exact numbers, could you please share some rough estimates?
Thanks.

There are no discounts on LetterPost and Oversize Mail.
Discounts on the services that are discounted differ with your Level. The more labels you use and the more you pay the higher the discount.
Your buyer sees the counter /published rate.
You pay a discounted rate (sometimes). This covers some of your packaging costs or Cookie Jar Insurance against problems.

Ebay Labels is based on Level 1 discounts with no current way to attach to your account.
Shippo Labels is based on your account with CP - Easy to appy for at CP - 3rd Party connected to eBay
PayPal Labels is based on ????(Haven't used in years) - Requires porting eBay information to screen
CP Labels is based on your account with CP - Requires porting eBay information to screen
Another option is Chit Chats for mailing with various discounts and direct forwarding to USPS
Discount Levels for CP below.
There are no discounts for letter services unless you are a very high volume seller. You can apply for a contract with CP or someone like Pitney Bowes.

eBay labels gives you the small business level 1 discount even if you are at a higher level. The percentage varies. It could be from 6or7% for some services such as domestic expedited parcel to a much higher discount with tracked packet international. If you are checking a price on the CP calculator, once it show you the price, click on 'show minimum online savings' to see the level 1 rate.

Question:
If buyer sees counter rate why does Expedited + the additional options display on a sellers listing when they do not appear when you confirm rates at CP without being signed in(Canada). Always wondered about that. I have witnessed random purchasers and their sticker shock eeek expressions when they bought postage at the counter without an account.

Expedited is only available with a SfSB /Venture One card.
Nobody expects parcel rates to be any higher than 92c for much the same reason that some put $1.05 on a letter when they don't have a P stamp.

While Expedited is not available for regular customers, its rate table is exactly the same as Regular, so it's quite easy to figure out how much a buyer would have paid if that service were available to them (accounting for a volumetric equivalent ratio of 5000 instead of 6000).

Canada Post provides some "up to" percentages on its Shipping discounts for small businesses page.
You can also try it out for yourself when using the FInd a rate tool, by clicking Show minimum online savings to switch from Counter to Level 1 rates (which is what you would pay with eBay Labels).
