Is there an issue with Canada Post rates through eBay Labels? I went to buy a label this morning and my expedited lite rate was higher that what Ebay has calculated and collected from the buyer, they collect $6.47 and charge me $8.20 to print the label

@videotimeplus wrote:Its even worse today. Expedited Lite is $23 to go to Alberta!! I shipped the same sized parcel that way yesterday for less than $10.
What's the postal code? The $23+ rates are typically ones going to rural/remote locations not covered by Expedited Lite.

If it was airstage or beyond point it would show the exp lite, expedited and regular with a similar higher price. The Lite option is not applicable. Based on ebay calculator tool testing a short time ago.

Any updates on this, my price quotes are still high for expedited light lables?

Prices are high for me as well.
I'm shipping a CD and it's saying $23 and change to BC. No cheaper option on the CP website either. I will lose money on this sale but it's gotta go out.
Alternates: If it's a CD and less than 2cm thick you can send it as registered mail (101-200g is $17.44) or you can send in a Canada Post extra small flat rate box (up to 5kg, $18.99).

Lower Expedited Lite rates are available effective today.
Noticed the lower rates for an order received this morning (Dec. 8). ExLite rates were still at the higher levels for orders received Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.
Using the "Get Another Label" button on orders mailed over the past few months I found the new ExLite rates are lower than what we've been seeing since Nov. 30, but higher than during the timeframe when we receiving discounts of 70%+. Some examples:
An anomaly -- during the higher discount period it was slightly less costly to mail a 100-200g local order via ExLite at $4.41 vs. Oversize Lettermail at $4.50 including the 5% GfO (Gratuity for Ottawa😉 ). Today a similar order would be slightly higher at $5.05.

Further to my previous post ...
I checked to see if the ExLite weight limit had been increased from 200g to 250g and it has NOT at this time.
ExLite at $8.42 was available for the QC order when I entered 135g, but for 235g Expedited Parcel at $16.83 was the lowest-cost option available through Ebay Labels

Luke has confirmed elsewhere that everything should be fixed with eBay Labels and Canada Post now (as of Dec 8).
In my single data point from today it unfortunately appears that the cost of Expedited Lite has increased. What used to cost me less than $7 is showing about $8.30 now. That's nearly a 30% increase.
Expedited Lite used to be a fairly flat-rate service across Canada; now it has changed to what eBay is describing as "more granular rates based on location". So the price of the service is going to depend on the origination and destination postal codes.
EDIT: Yeah, it's definitely varying depending on location. I just went through my last few weeks of order history and checked how much Expedited Lite labels would cost now using the "Get Another Label" button to various locations across Canada. I'm centrally located in Winnipeg, and the cheapest rates I'm seeing are within western Canada which makes sense ($7.32 to Edmonton and $7.74 to Vancouver). Guelph and Mississauga are showing $8.33 and Gatineau is showing $8.01. Don't have anything from eastern Canada to test.
What's really troubling is that an item to the eIS hub (in Mississauga, may I remind you) is showing $11.72 via Expedited Lite lol. So $8.33 to ship to another address in Mississauga, but $11.72 to ship to the hub
(also in Mississauga). Something is not right there - we were told that shipments to the hub should be even more discounted than other destinations.

There is an announcement about the new rates including expedite lite change today Dec 8, 2025
In testing the eBay calculator tool just now it appears it hasn't been applied there as of yet. Just tested a listing that I created today on the 200 gram bubble, updating to 250 blocks expedited lite. And got the error message.
Now does anyone know an easy way to fix listings quickly that fall in the 200 to 250 gram range that qualify? As far as I know there is no search function within ebay to find and quickly modify once the change is fully functional?
As a side if a customer buys the expedited lite option will be available when seller attempts to purchase a label that meets the criteria. You can refund at your discretion. IF the seller did not include expedited lite when they created the listing the option "should not" show when they check options or go to pay. Potential to miss out on some customers without an easy fix.

Make sure you're flooding ebaylabels@ebay.ca with any issues. I sent a detailed email to them with screenshots showing different rates to the hub vs. elsewhere in Mississauga.
If it's not giving the Expedited Lite rates for packets in the 200-250g range then that's another issue they need to examine.

I did a quick survey comparing the differences a few days ago for random points across Canada when there were sellers still having issues and how much the rates varied depending on the where to for my own curiousity. The discount I recorded are definitely on a floating bar with limited amount of pattern. Basically no rhyme
As for messaging eis via email you get the token robo response immediately after sending. A chance of a direct response in up to 7 days where you are asked for more follow up. The response to that request is usually non existant so you have no idea if they are working on it or it was a non starter.
Anyone with major problems knows what those hoops are like trying to jump thru. CS response is wait 24 to 48 hours. (That is best case scenario.) Mostly all we can do now is keep hoping the whatever has been fixed by testing and retesting on our own.

I emailed the ebaylabels address, not eIS, and I cc'd Luke on it as well. I didn't get a robo response.
I also sent two queries to the eis@ebay.ca on Saturday and didn't get automatic ('robo') replies either.
I don't care if I never get a response. We've been told by the powers-that-be that these emails are monitored and all the emails are read (and I have faith that that's true - possibly misguided, but I remain positive). All I'm doing is making them aware of the situation, and everyone else should do the same. It only takes a minute or two to fire off an email with the details. This way the issue gets to the eyes of someone that can actually do something instead of dealing with eBay customer service reps that don't even understand what the issue is, nevermind who to forward it to so it gets fixed.

Just sent one to eis@ebay.ca and got a robo response.
Expedited rate is improved to the hub though, for a 32x30x25 label that would have been $22.85 two weeks ago is now showing only $14.55

Currently Calgary to Calgary is showing 5.08 for Expedited lite up to 200 grams (68 % discount).
0 - 500 grams is 10.15 for Expedited and Regular. Xpresspost is 10.67. Appears "some" of the weight breaks have been updated.
36 % discount for all 3 services.
501 - 750 grams is 10.21 for Expedited/Regular. Xpresspost 10.96
36 % Discount for all 3 services
751 - 1 Kg is 10.26 for Expedited/Regular. Xpresspost 11.81
36 % Discount for all 3 services
Jumps less than a couple of bucks when you change to Wpg. Discount changes to 30%
Discount floats(varies depending on service) if you update to Ontario postal codes
Still no change for 250 gram increase on Exp lite.
Now if we could link eis directly into the forum..............
Note: used a basic small pkg size for my testing.

Wondering this myself! The bulk of the items I sell weigh around 230g, but on my listings i have them at 260g to account for possible weight discrapancies. If there's a way I can easily bulk update these to be 250g once the weight is increased in the label maker I'd love to know it. I know you can bulk edit listings but when I checked yesterday you could only do the weight by lb and oz and not g. I suspect I'm going to have to one by one these.

Seems to be the new normal is open a ticket or pass on the info and then cross fingers for any eBay tech issues or concerns to your account. Then check often to see if "maybe" the issue has been resolved. Waiting for actual prompt followup has become a lost cause.
