It was in 2016 that the store was on vacation for July and August.
I am following the same approach in 2018. My choice is based on my personal need for a vacation.
The CUPW daily reports have been quite "quiet" compared to what is found in news reports on the internet.
Many who use Canada Post have switched to other delivery options..... This puts Canada Post in a difficult position.... Various news reports have reported that Canada Post delivered over one million parcels each day over the Christmas period of 2017. The longer these negotiations continue, the greater the monetary loss to Canada Post. Many who have left Canada Post may not return when everything is settled between the union and Canada Post.
In order to be self-sustaining Canada Post must make some major adjustments. The union chooses to make demands that do not allow Canada Post to make these adjustments.
Canada Post is a Crown Corporation whose activities are defined by the Canada Post Corporation Act. If Canada Post is no longer a Crown Corporation it is not controlled by a unique "Union Act" for Crown Corporations. This could mean that CUPW would lose its power to negotiate as it does if Canada Post is no longer a Crown Corporation.
The question becomes... What happens to CUPW if Canada Post is no longer a Crown Corporation?
Many Corporations that once were Crown Corporations, became most successful when their status changed....
The Canadian National Railway was once a Crown Corporation.
Some of the discussion on the internet, and in relation to Canada Post, is directed at making Canada Post an essential service.. and then there could never be a strike by the union or a lockout by Canada Post.
