What happens now that orders are in the mail with a possible expected delivery date of September 30 and early October, what happens if not received there is no way of knowing whether these items will be received after strike is over. Will eBay delay delivery date?

We, the Canadian sellers on eBay, will follow this situation..... one step at a time.
Step 1 ..... CUPW Initiates rotating strike, October 22, 2018
Step 2 ..... We shall see.....

From the Canada Post website Oct. 19th:
Canada Post remains committed to negotiations with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, with the assistance of a mediator. We plan to continue the discussions throughout the weekend in order to reach an agreement.
If the union takes rotating strike action on Monday, the postal service will continue to operate across Canada – accepting and delivering mail and parcels in all other locations. Once any temporary strike action ends, we would return to normal operations in the affected locations.

Those rotating strikes from 2011 were often a single shift in a single city. There was little or no actual disruption of service, but nervous businesses stopped using Canada Post for time-sensitive parcels and switched those to couriers.
The real disruption was when management ( under the now-gone Deeprak Chopra) locked out the workers and shut down the system.
Also-- the Harper Government was much less interested in keeping the flow of money from the profitable postal service in public funds than in selling it off to their friends.

It really doesn't look that bad, delay in delivery time at the most. I put my store on vacation yesterday when I saw on the news that 50,000 postal workers would be off the job on Monday, not sure if that was accurate.
I am thinking of putting my store back.

Last year during the postal dispute, I ended my active listings and did not list for the duration (I don't have an eBay store)...this time around I am leaving my listings active. As a casual seller, there is nothing to be gained by ending my listings and nothing to be lost in leaving them active.

Can you cite the news source for it?

It was CP24, one of those headlines that run across the bottom of the screen.

After being away in Ontario with my Stores on Vacation for over a week, during which I somehow got sales even though I was sure I had the No Show option used, I packed up all my shipments and put them in the 9am postbox.
And then heard on the news that Victoria would be honoured with the first of the 24Hour revolving strikes.
Poot.
So do we get any help on this? Because I am usually able to make the 24 hour handling, even though I don't always remember to mark my untracked items as shipped.

My store has been on vacation.... with no end date noted.....
Nothing has been bought. People with a watch on a listing can view the listing, but cannot buy the item.

Too late to use if you've already done a red box deposit, but the postal outlets (Shoppers etc) should still be accepting mail (even if it is not going anywhere) and doing originate scans.

Are you saying that there are tracked items in there that won't get scanned on time? For your packages without tracking, you wouldn't be credited for being shipped within handling time' even if they were picked up this morning.

No I rarely track anything under $100 (I have a customer demographic that is almost painfully honest) or too heavy or thick to send lettermail.
So there is that.
Thank you for your reassurance.

Hi @femmefan1946 - automatic protections are in place to prevent your account from being impacted. This includes any 'late shipment' dings, as well as 'tracking uploaded within handling time and validated' misses. While your account would initially incur them, they will be removed.
These removals are usually done in batches weekly. If you would prefer to see them removed sooner than that you can contact Customer Support and they are able to manually appeal them ahead of the batch run. Thanks!

i believe femmefan1946, was specifically asking about how us as seller's would have any protection for the items will mail that are sent by regular airmail, without tracking, will we be provided the same courtesy as those shipping with tracking..

This is the thing that I am concerned about also, the majority of my sales are low priced items and mailed without tracking.

And mostly I was having a nice moan.

Hmm perhaps I was wearing my optimism glasses when I read this, because I interpreted it that all items were covered, assuming it was based on the time they were sold or more likely marked as shipped.
Now I'm wondering too ....hopefully tyler@ebay can clarify this for certain....
