Hi everyone,

I have couple questions to ask here. Can Canadian still able to selling on eBay.com as they are changing to payment management? I tried to post an item on .com and payment management is poped up and asking me to put ITIN number. Does anyone experience how to apply for itin and continue selling on eBay.com? Thank you

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

I'm avoiding Managed Payments at the moment.

I was listing last night on two of my IDs, both still using Paypal payment processing*, on dotCOM with no problems.

Are you registered on dotCA or on dotCOM? The oldest IDs were on dotCOM because there was not dotCA, and some of them  ( @ricarmic ?) would have more useful information about that.

If you are enrolled in Managed Payments, and your buyer pays in USD, you will receive the money in Canadian dollars after currency exchange.
Your Managed Payments account, when you have one, must have a Canadian bank account attached (if you are registered with dotCA) but it can be either in loonies or in USD.

But not two accounts .

And not both currencies .

And not an American bank in USD.

* "processing" because our customers can still pay using PP. Only sellers are enrolled in Managed Payments.

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

Canadians registered on .ca can sell on .ca and com.  You shouldn't need a ITIN since you will be paying tax in Canada.  That field should be optional.   Did you register on ,ca with a Canadian address?

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

Hi there

So I should complete my register on .ca with Canadian address first and then later I can still post on .com?
I believe that my old account I registered on .com but due to recent update I can’t post anything cuz ebay is asking me to provide ssn or itin.

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

The payment system is changing from PayPal to something called Managed Payments so it sounds like they are requiring you to sign up for that first.  Is it asking you for a bank account too?

I'm not really sure what's going on but if it won't let you skip that part the only solution might be to set up an account on .ca.   I'm registered on .ca and list on both sites so yes you can still list on .com however, if they put you in Managed Payments right away and you have a Canadian dollar bank account, they will covert your payment to Canadian $ before they deposit it into your account.

You could also try contacting customer service although they do tend to have limited knowledge about Canadian issues.

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

@reallynicestamps  So far I have not yet got the "nod" to join MP.

I do have a grandfathered account originally created on .COM that got moved to .CA when .CA was born.

My registration address is in Canada so I'm making the bold assumption I won't be asked US based questions.

I am worried though because my store is still a .COM store and of course my id is grandfathered too.

Time will tell.

Re: Canadian selling on eBay.com

When I tried to complete a post, it’s asking me to provide ssn/itin to continue it and there is also a button for “skip for now and list first until item get sold but ebay will hold the money” but ebay didn’t let me to skip the option. So when I put my Canadian social number in it, next step is asking me to complete enroll payment management. It doesn’t seems like I can avoid it. (I already switch region back to Canada)
