Cannot combined orders-Why

What's up with ebay? Why can't my Internationjal Customers make all their BIN selections before paying. How can I combine them to save shipping?

I have checked my listings and used bulk editoer to remove the requirement to pay immediately. What's up?

Cannot combined orders-Why

For those who don't check the weekly .ca Discussions, this subject was brought up on Jan. 15th (see link below).  I got the impression very little will be done about this specific problem because eBay plans to roll out the Cart feature on eBay.ca soon.

Let's hope they are as good as their word, i.e. that the .ca cart will be compatible with all currencies andwill allow buyers to combine purchases on one invoice.  What's the point of a "cart" that will only hold one item?

By the way, Pierre did make one suggestion I recall that might help if you're a Canadian seller with a US buyer trying to make multiple purchases and being unable to do so: try asking your buyer to log out of eBay.com completely and log back into eBay.ca, then try making the multiple purchases from within .ca.

I haven't yet run into the "immediate payment" problem with my US buyers, but I'm wondering if it's for a reason other than the one mentioned by 'recped'.  I only accept one payment method (Paypal) and don't sell items over $1,000, yet I haven't had any buyers complain about encountering "immediate payment" being required, and many have been paying a day or two after purchasing, so I know they aren't being forced to pay on the spot.

All very frustrating to understand what's going on with this site.

Sorry, I meant to post the link to the Wed. discussion for Jan. 15th (although anybody can see it near the top of these boards):

Cannot combined orders-Why

Well another seller I know just got off the phone with eBay. It sounds like it is definitely the cart system causing the issue with needing immediate payment. However all eBay would say is that they are working on getting the cart for eBay.ca but couldn't say when. Hopefully sometime this year. I have a feeling some of us just won't be able to hang on that long.

I have two stores, the one I am posting from is mostly free shipping to Canada and the U.S. so combining isn't an issue except for international. My other store charges a flat rate so it is a huge issue there. Regardless of the shipping problem it is causing confusion in another way. eBay encourages sellers to give buyers  time to shop, by giving them a week or whatnot to pay. I've always let them take their time. Imagine their confusion now! I allow them seven days to pay but want immediate payment? I know I am losing customers because of this. It is beyond ridiculous. To make matters worse this immediate payment problem is hit and miss, sometimes it works sometimes not.

I think it is very important for Canadian sellers to start calling eBay instead of scratching our heads. If we annoy them enough this might be taken seriously. One more thing. I don't have the link but did see another comment stating that putting another payment method such as cash upon pickup would solve this issue in the meantime. That way a buyer wouldn't be redirected to pay immediately. It might work some of the time I am not sure. I did put it on my listings and had someone try to buy an item and it did not work for me. Still wanted immediate payment.

Hi - This obviously isn't a permanent solution, and likely won't help with the "immediate payment" issue, but until eBay does something about this problem, the next time you have a US or international buyer, you might want to tell your buyer to try the workaround I mentioned above -- i.e., log out of whatever eBay site they're on, log into .ca and try their purchases from within eBay.ca.

I can't be sure this will work, but it does stand to reason that without the site incompatibilities it just may be a temporary way out.

As I mentioned, for some reason none of my buyers have had either problem ("immediate payment" or checkout dysfunction), and I really have no idea why, as most of them are US buyers.  I guess I shouldn't tempt fate by saying that...Woman Very Happy

By the way, your items and listings are beautiful!

I offer PayPal OR Cash On Pick-up which means two payment methods and thus no redirect by eBay to pay immediately.

Which seems like a good workaround, especially for those who are either very easy with pickup (I can allow p/u at our B&M store and don't have to worry about having strangers come to my house)  or know that very few will try to p/u in Attawapiskat ON.

Yes logging into .ca does seem to work. However I do know that a lot of buyers don't bother contacting a seller to let them know there is a problem in the first place. They just go shop somewhere else. In that case sales are lost. I know if I wanted to buy more then one item but couldn't combine I would just move on to another seller if I was short on time..I've actually done this. I have seen several Canadian sellers noticing a sharp decrease in sales that can't be chalked up to the economy alone. If it wasn't for the few customers taking the time to let me know about the problem I would assume I didn't have one either.  I am fairly certain there are a number of sellers with sharp declines in sales that have no inkling why only because they haven't had a customer complain yet. We live in a world of instant gratification so a lot of customers can't be bothered. So if you can't nab them from the get go...they are gone.

Oh to add to my previous post. I added cash on pick up to my listings. I had someone try to purchase from .com and it made no difference at all, it still demanded immediate payment. So that won't guarantee a fix either unfortunately.
