What's up with ebay? Why can't my Internationjal Customers make all their BIN selections before paying. How can I combine them to save shipping?
I have checked my listings and used bulk editoer to remove the requirement to pay immediately. What's up?

Are you listing some items on eBay.CA and others on .COM?

everything is listed on .ca. I have the Check Out option enabled too. It seems to be mostly International customers, but today the US as well.

Are they telling you they can't combine their items in a message or they just pay one item at a time without contacting you?

After hitting the BIN button the customer is forced to pay before making another selection. I was on the phone with a customer inTrinidad as he made his selection. I received the email Your Item Sold but it did not show in the waiting payment list. We sat for 5 minutes. After he paid it showed up in awaiting shipment. This has been happening regularly all last month.

That is caused by the new eBay rule "It ain't sold until the buyer pays". Which is a very stupid rule according to me and many other members here. Since you already offer "easy to work with" combined shipping rules, the solution would be to tell your buyers to include all the items they want in their shopping cart and THEN begin the payment process. It should work.
You can also add the option of "pay on pick up" in all your listings. Then the buyers will be able to commit to buy without paying immediately.

BTW lady.stark Thank you for your quick response. Ive been on hold with Customer Service this whole time. I spent 20 years in Customer Contact Centers and have never encountered anything as slow as ebay customer service!
In July I did double the direct sales over ebay... all from customers that couldn't be bothered with ebay anymore... profits were better!

You are very welcome. I'm really glad if I could help you! That is the purpose of these boards. 😉

It won't let them make a second selection until the first is paid. I'll trying adding the pick up option...

OMG... I'm on hold again while CSR consults with her Supervisor!

Even if they put the item in their shopping cart? That button (Add To Cart) is near the "Buy Now" button, but it's not the same button.

Are they shopping on .com? Ebay Canada doesn't have a shopping cart. (unless that has changed recently)

Actually...has anyone noticed if the 'not bought until paid for' rule is valid on .ca yet? From what I understand, it's just on specific categories so it may not be on all sites yet.

If it is, it was not announced. I just assumed the buyers the OP was referring to were shopping on .COM, but maybe I was wrong.... now that I think about it, if my assumption was wrong and if the buyers go on .CA to purchase their items, they are probably still able to "commit to buy" without actually paying right away.
Update: I just made a test. I searched for a BIN item and looked at the listing. The shopping cart is not there. So if the buyers go on .CA, in theory, they should be able to purchase without paying immediately.

It sounds like you might have "immediate payment required" ticked in your listings. Purchasing takes you directly to check out without the option of buying more items, if I am not mistaken.

I checked to make sure the "immediate payment required" was not checked. I did a bulk edit to remove from all just in case. I sell 90% USA/International. It doesn't happen all the time. Buyers with high feedback scores seem to have fewer problems. I was thinking it might be their restrictions or something. Hasn't hurt overall sales, just reduced the number I do on ebay. Customers are happy because I give them a 10% discount when I bill direct. It's just so much easier to let them buy/combine and pay on ebay. Oh well, not the end of the world... thanks for all the help and such courteous responses... cheers all... Paul

You aren't going crazy, I'm having the exact same problems with mostly US customers. I've got them to try different things like using the back button to select another items but they all end up paying over and over agian to fill an order. eBay has to get this worked out....please get a cart option (opt in) for eBay.ca sellers. I refund extra shipping frequently but I still get stuck with the extra 30 cent fees from paypal.

I was looking something up for another post and noticed this......
For fixed price listings less than $1000.00, if you specify a shipping cost and PayPal as the only payment method offered, buyers who click the Buy It Now button will be asked to pay immediately.
Now I know why I have never seen this problem. I offer PayPal OR Cash On Pick-up which means two payment methods and thus no redirect by eBay to pay immediately.

99% of my customers are international/US so this is really impacting my two stores. I've had a few customers contact me about this issue but I can guarantee that there are many who do not let me know. They just go somewhere else to shop where there are no hassles.
I logged into .com and went to another Canadian seller I know. The first time I clicked on a bin it gave me the option of putting it into the cart so I did. A page popped up saying I had zero items in my cart. Well yes this is because .ca doesn't use the cart system but pretty confusing to international buyers.
I clicked bin again and it immediately took me to "You're almost done! Until you complete checkout another eBay user may buy this item" sigh. Of course when I logged back in to .ca I got the commit to buy button instead. So yes a good portion of the problem seems to be directly a result of not having a cart. I would love to know why some other countries other then the U.S have carts but we still do not? I doubt I will get an answer. In the meantime I foresee some Canadian sellers packing their bags and closing shop. As it is I can't keep two stores open for much longer at this rate.
I saw another seller saying they called eBay about the issue and were told that the buyers must be doing something wrong. At first I thought that may be the case but obviously it is not. So it is beyond frustrating. I will be calling eBay but I am not hopeful. I think that unless more Canadian sellers start hollering about this nothing will be done.

This is a site issue that will not be fixed anytime soon from what customer service tells me. The other site issue is that if you use calculated shipping you show up as shipping not specified in search results and if you search price plus shipping lowest first then all Canadians show up at the bottom of the search list. Keep calling customer service the more of of that call the faster it may be fixed.
