Firstly, I am a seller and a buyer on ebay, and although this isnt in the rules nor is it policy. its more so just etiquette, i believe if there are issues from either parties for sales, they should try contact each other before instantly trying to create a case. And cases should be a last resort if either party doesnt respond/find a resolution.
I recently had a sale, for a Wii console Tested + free shipping + 2 week returns.
Packed and shipped on time. After the status on tracking updated to delivered, WITHOUT contacting me at all, the customer instantly made a not delivered case.
I contacted Ebay and carrier right away, the carrier provied both, picture proof of the package, the house, and they even had the geographic coordinate. only just couple hours after delivery (fast response) - highly unlikely someone stole it that fast, but not impossible i guess.
This was later provided to the customer, whom then closed their own case stating "they found package", BUT proceeded to leave me negative feedback (which ebay automatically removed). I then received a chargeback notice, at this point i was infuriated, customer still did not contact me once and seems like theyre pulling a fast one. I ended up reporting them and blocking them.
Funny enough, they also are a seller, so im sure they know how terrible a unjustifiable case +NEG feels. I ended up buying an item from them, it never arrived for weeks (others have complained about the same issue). no tracking neither. So i left them a Neg review about my purchase, but also a "beware" caution to future buyers/sellers of the situation that unfolded.
FINALLY, this person leaves me a message in their revision request. (they cant message me regularly anymore because i blocked them) they stated that the neg review was unfair, and that the situation that unfolded with my sale was a misunderstanding.
dont think so buddy, i denied revision and left a message letting them know, 1. doesnt it feel terrible to get a unjustified negative review/case? 2. why are you only now messaging me that you got a negative review, but didnt share me the same courtesy to make things right for you during my sale? i only got lucky ebay auto-removed their neg review.
Ebay support is well aware of the situation, and i am disputing their Chargeback case, its likely going to close against them as they themselves stated they already found the package. Case was voluntarily closed

Yes, if this buyer is also a seller, they already know how the eBay system works and how to work the eBay system to their advantage...
It is also possible that this is a buyer remorse case and buyer just annoyed at not being able to resolve the issue without penalty by providing factual/correct/appropriate reason for opening the case in the first place.

What was the reason they gave for the chargeback? If it was 'transaction not recognized' you will definitely win since your tracking shows delivered. If it was 'not as described' that can be more difficult to win.
Leaving you a negative for an item not received when they had received the item is wrong. But if you purchased from them so that you could leave a negative, that is wrong as well. When you try to prove a point like that it often comes back to bite you.
