De iMinimis and / or Tariffs
I have had my shop in "Time Away Mode" for a while; but, I am wanting to get back to selling.
I believe the De Minimis rule is still in effect for Non Chinese etc. goods. At least for Canadian & US goods - going to the US. I saw a refernce somewhere, that it might be in effect until early 2027.
Does anybody know if, when shipping a Canadian or US product, to the US - is there are any tariffs that might be applied. Or does the De Mimimus process not involve Tariffs - bypass that scrutiny .
I am guessing if tariffs are not charged - the Country of origin might still be optiomal
Also, does anyone know if the De Minimis apply to European made products.
thanks in advance

Currently, yes, as long as the contents were not made in China or Hong Kong.
On August 29th, things change and this will no longer be the case - see the other thread on this topic specifically.

As of TODAY, the de minimis exemption is still in force for all imports into the US EXCEPT for goods made in China/Hong Kong.
It's true that in the Big Bozo Bill the plan is for the de minimis exemption to go away completely in 2027. No way to predict is that will actually happen and when it might happen, could be in 17 months, could be in 29 months, could be never.
I don't think at this time anyone knows what is in the new EU agreement or if de minimis is part of this "deal" (framework, agreement, fantasy).
One thing I do know, Canada has about the lowest di minimis exemption of any country and that has not stopped Canadians from buying from the US or overseas.

What i wonder is if the trade deals with the EU and others will allow the de minimus to continue for those COOs. From what I understand though, these are just announcements of frameworks and there is a lot of detail to work out.
I am on a mid-summer time away break, which is good timing to see how this plays out. What is sad is the best people to find out what is really going on is not the government or ebay but the trans-border shippers - chitchats and stallion.

The importer in the USA pays the taxes and tariffs applicable over any de minimus the USA charges to US residents.
Not the sender.
Nonetheless for the aid of your US customer, put the HS number and the Country of Origin on the shipping label, which doubles as the customs form.
And you are done.
Not your problem.
We didn't elect him.

As of today, I have STILL not had a single US Customer charged a tariff on CHINA origin goods (properly shown on Customs form) shipped via CANADA POST to the USA. There are lots of stories of tariffs being charged if shipped via non-post office methods.

Thank for the info. I am still not clear - does a parcel, shipped to the US, that falls into the De Miminis exemption bypass the Tariff process. Meaning that if the parcel is under $800.00 US - there will be no Tariffs charged.
Thanks in advance
