Delivery Estimate

On most if not all of my item pages (I haven't checked them all) there are 4 headings: Shipping, Delivery Estimate  Returns and Payment

Under or beside: Delivery Estimate it states :on or before Friday Jan 31st to R4L 1A9,I think the date changes daily.

Ive had several questions from potential buyers asking why does it take so long. R4L 1A9 is my postal code.

I don't need an estimate delivery time to myself? How can I change this or what did I do to cause this? It is very misleading. I don't understand  how this got there. What am I missing

Appreciate any advice

Re: Delivery Estimate

The buyer sees the delivery estimate for their own postal code, not yours. You don't need to change anything.

The reason it's so long is because of the Canada Post strike. eBay seems to be pushing out estimates, particularily for items listed as using Canada Post. You could try removing Canada Post and putting in UPS or something else instead. I don't know if that will change the estimated time or not, but it might be worth trying it on a listing and finding out.

Re: Delivery Estimate

estimated delivery dates are also based on the seller's handling time....and yes those estimated delivery times also adjust as per the shipping company used. By adjusting the handling time, the estimated delivery time will also change> a seller can use that to their advantage too if it is felt that the delivery time is extended too far out or not extended far enough out to what is a more realistic time frame based on a seller's own experiences with shipping to various locations.

Because of the ongoing postal strike eBay is upping the pie in the sky "optimistic" delivery estimates. Until things get back to semi normal this will be the new normal for what buyers will see. Just an added protection for sellers and a please be patient for buyers. If they would have included the connected reason it would have been very helpful. Even the Fedex's/ UPS's etc are no longer able to guarantee ETA's.

I think there's problems with the estimates right now.

I have "Expedited Shipping" set in Canada: Thu, Jan 9 and Thu, Jan 23... Wow, why so long? I'm not with Canada Post... Just using the generic shipping method on ebay for chitchat.

I have "Standard Shipping" set for USA: Wed, Dec 18 and Thu, Jan 23.. ??

devon@ebay Is there a reason why "Expedited Shipping" is pushing the date to January in Canada while "Standard shipping" to the States is estimated faster  ?

I understand because of the strike, the dates have been pushed.... but here, Standard should take longer than expedited to ship to the states.

Something is wrong.

I guess they both goes to the 23 of january max... but it still looks wrong to me. 18 december? That would be unrealistic. Standard to the states is too fast, expedited to canada too slow.

Re: Delivery Estimate

Just tested with "Economy Shipping" to the states... No difference. Still Dec 18 to Jan 23.

One week to send to the states while a month to send within canada.... Should almost be the opposite, unless using Canada Post...

Re: Delivery Estimate

Just a note for devon@ebay for my problem. Removed the Shipping Rate table from the Business Policy and saved.. Then I put it back and saved again. Problem solved...

Within canada: Fri, Dec 13 and Mon, Dec 30... Which seem to be more accurate. Something happened there that pushed my date too far within Canada.

For OP @golfing_in_style , you can test delivery date by clicking on "See Details" in the shipping section.

Then you can write the postal code, country, etc, for testing.

eBay appears to be updating delivery times on the fly going forward. Have you noticed on any of your recent sales have they been modified more than once after shipping? From my testing if you received an order around (close to) when the strike first started those transactions transit estimates have not been amended.

Re: Delivery Estimate

I think the estimates are "frozen" when there's an order.

So, if there's a problem with the dates or dates are not updated, they still be kept after the order is made.
