Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

Open post for known issues regarding eIS Canada. Add as you come across them.

1. Default shipping method  domestic letter being used vs USA Tracked or Expedited. (I am guessing some cases you could ship Expedited lite to hub vs letter to get tracked but not always. It would mean determining which ones would qualify and blocking letter if it is an eIS order). Once buyer pays you are basically hooped unless there was add on reason allowed for cancelling that was more appropriate.)

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

It is difficult to deliver to the Hub. My Chit Chats carrier has tried every day for 3 days with no success. Just a closed door and the phone number given is just the eBay phone number with an AI bot gatekeeper and they are photographing their phone call and the closed door every day.
Apparently there are reports that CP is leaving a pickup card to p/u at the closest PO rather than leaving parcels. Will the whse actually pick these up? How do we get the hub to OPEN THE DOOR and accept parcels???? Or how about a drop box that's locked???Screenshot 2025-10-18 at 8.34.34 AM.pngScreenshot 2025-10-18 at 8.34.51 AM.png

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

As far as issues with EIS?
I was basically live for one whole day for EIS (and I received 2 EIS orders, 1 to the US and 1 to Sweden last Friday Oct 10). Since then, my listings were on and off for showing EIS. Some showed EIS for US and some did not. No rhyme nor reason. Then it seemed to work for all my listings again for showing EIS for USA, except there was a 2 to 3 day lag after entering a new listing or if you revised a listing. The following day, one of the lagging days would go live. But then, as of yesterday, not one of my 800 listings showed EIS for the USA. A few were showing it for Int'l. I have been spot checking every day. I haven't had a new order on eBay .ca since. Not to anywhere.
Those 2 EIS orders I got? They still haven't been delivered to the Hub because the hub is just a closed door and no one answers the door (see my previous post). My carrier has tried every day for 3 days. So, it's been a week since I got the orders (Monday was a holiday), and my parcels have not made it to the hub. Great delivery time. I live 20 minutes up the road from the Hub. I may end up with these boxes being returned to me by my carrier. Then what?? Go pound on the door of the Hub myself??????

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

I've been enrolled for over a week. Shipping to US seems to have no rhyme or reason at all, since day one.

By changing my postal code to 90210 to see what US buyers see, this is what I'm getting-

Some listings that I didn't include a country of origin (I sell a lot of vintage clothing , some don't have tags) still somehow have EIS available with shipping and import fees. How?

Some listings filled out correctly, with country of origin, no EIS available, for any country

Some listings have rediculously high import fees to US, which change to different amounts every time I refresh the page. One example -$39 acrylic sweater, made in Bangladesh, under 500g- import fee , varied from $60-$400(!). Has now settled at $21.66. Still seems somewhat high as Bangladesh tariff is 20%?  Many others with widely varying import fees.

To add insult to injury, I messaged eBay facebook page concerning my problem, suddenly banned from Facebook mid conversation. I had to appeal, waited two days to get account back, messaged eBay again, and was promptly banned again. Finally have my account back.

Anyway, both people I spoke to didn't really understand what I was trying to explain no matter how hard I tried. At that point I gave up.

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

Me thinks eIS is NOT open for business which equates to eBay Canada's eIS is NOT yet functional and is still a work in progress. For those sellers who so quickly jumped on this eIS bandwagon, it will be interesting to see how well those packages survive the delays, when they are processed and how long for the actual movement from the HuB to being in transit to the final destination...Sorry, folks but being the eIS guinea pigs does have its drawbacks. We wish you luck and success and hopefully all turns out well. Please keep us posted.

Is there someone at eBay running this new program? Would it be possible to have a mini-seminar with them? Would it be possible to include the manager of the Mississauga plant involved?
Or maybe just instructions on how to get the door open?

@mandicrafts

I live 20 minutes up the road from the Hub.

Would you have time for  road trip?
It might be worth your while (and ours by extension) to drive there and see what the entire building is like.
It seems unusual, when I look at the Google Maps over head image, that there is no "front door" to the quite large building.  And there are certainly loading docks visible.

You may have more time than the carrier's drive to explore the site - and perhaps find the real drop off point.

Ha! That's hillarious......

It appears that EasyShip is running the show (they operate the US version of EIS). It seems that EasyShip just leased the space a few weeks ago, clearly they are not actually ready yet.

In another thread @ecgt  showed he was charged through eBay labels $12.63 for shipping to the EIS hub that was quoted at $8.00.  Bottom of the page.   Definite red flag if that is happening.

I think this is more to do with the general glitchiness of Expedited Lite pricing right now and isn't specifically an eIS problem.  It's discussed a bit on this thread:

I'll mention this on the other thread, too.

Omg, this exact same thing happened to me. Started a conversation with the official eBay page on Facebook and boom, Facebook account banned. Took me DAYS to get it back. I initially thought it was just completely random and coincidental that it occurred right after messaging the Facebook eBay account, but the fact that the exact same thing happened to you means it wasn't a coincidence. There is some sort of serious security threat identified by Facebook with messages being sent between users and eBay - maybe something to do with the link they send you to verify your account. I was told I was banned for reasons related to "cybersecurity".

I've stopped communicating with them entirely on Facebook for risk of this happening again; I've been chatting with them on Twitter/X when I need to as I don't care what happens to that social media account.

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

The service we selected was Expedited Parcel, not Expedited Lite.

Yes, same here! Both times I was banned, I recieved an email from Facebook letting me know I was suspended for not following community standards on cybersecurity. But I also got an email from Meta for business saying I was restricted from advertising?! I don't have a business page, it's just my personal Facebook account.

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

Update on the EIS warehouse for parcel deliveries. Apparently, the Chit Chats carrier who showed the pics of the unmanned door was at the WRONG ENTRANCE. eBay, the carrier and Chit Chats have had communications about the CORRECT entrance and the EIS warehouse is to improve signage so this doesn't happen again.
One of my 2 EIS parcels has since been successfully delivered today. The other parcel is supposed to go out again soon, to be delivered and the local carrier Chit Chats uses has been advised of the correct entrance for any future deliveries there.

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

These drivers, no matter who they work for, have a tough job.

A lot of parcels to deliver , tight schedules.

And sometimes it's hard to find where the real drop off is.

I had the same problem with a regular customer whose Canada Post carrier kept trying to deliver to his (locked) loading dock, although the address was for the front door and the loading dock entrance was on another street.

Not to mention that the shipment was an envelope. Lettermail. No tracking.

Carrier finally caught on.

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

Bangladesh tariffs are not 20%. That is the Trump tariff. You need to add the product specific tarri to that. For example, I sold shoe made in Bangladesh, the tariff is going to be 57.50%. See attached. You can use Stallion Express dashboard to calculate tariffs with the breakdown. I get the correct HS Code from Chitchats Tools page and then I enter that into Stallion dashboard to get tariffs calculation. Remember convert USD to CAD. So ebay last calculation seems about correct.

What does Zonons and Canada Post show? I think postal shipments are not subject to the IEEPA tariff, aka would be 7.99 less, or possible they are only subject to IEEPA and would be 15.01 less but curious if thats how it would price out!

Re: Discovered eIS Canada issues Discussion

Where did you read that saying IEEPA not applying to postal shipments.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/support/campaign/shipping-to-us-duty-updates.page

Goods valued at US$800 or less that are shipped to the United States through Canada Post’s postal network will be subject to International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff rates based on the product’s country of origin. For items manufactured in China, for example, the current IEEPA rate is 34% for most products.

That would be a bonus for all sellers in China. That would be like if Trump was to buy is own leg.
