I noticed the same thing so I gave up on free shipping, lowered my prices accordingly and charged shipping. Sales seemed to pick up slightly.

It's up and down. But then again it also depends on what you sell.

So far... so good in February. 🙂
And I still offer "free shipping" as I have for years. It is not a negative factor.

Sometimes when reading these threads, I am reminded of the impatient investor.
They buy a stock at $25 and see it move up to $27 within a month or two. They feel great and conclude their method of stock analysis is the greatest since it yielded such great results (so far).
Then in the nest few months the stock fluctuates down to $23, they quickly sell to avoid further losses and decide "playing the stock market" is not for them.
A while later the stock moves back up to $27 again and they lay the blame for their misfortune on the crooked brokers, analysts paid under-the-table, the rigged Bay Street system, etc.. etc...
It would have been too simple for that investor to simply lay down a workable long term plan and stick to it through all the ups and downs.
Oh well, life does go on.

Free shipping works for some & for some it does not.
Again it depends on the product you sell. Pierre, can add shipping into the item price & it works for him very well. On some items i can do the same, other items i cannot.
Oh well, life does go on. Always chuckle when i see that.
Of course sales are important, but profit is more important. I'm usually happy with what i see at the end of the month when i do my books.
Like the old cliche, " Its not what you take in, its what you take home."

I found sales slower than usual for January on this ID, where I charge shipping, but strong for the discount postage on one of my other IDs where shipping is included.
Since February is only eight days old, I’ll wait for another 20 days to decide if it is strong or slow.

I think it is provably more profitable to go FREE SHIPPING.After all eBay gets a seperate big cut commission on all shipping charges.eBay should NOT have any cut of the shipping charges as often we undercharge on shipping to make it more attractive and ONLY to findout later you have to pocket out that commission on shipping to eBay.RIDICULOUS.

Personally, I will not buy anything that says "Free Shipping" because I know the shipping cost is buried in the price.
I want to know excatly what I am being charged for shipping.
Old enough to know better. Young enough to do it again. Crazy enough to try
