Future eBay Promotions?

Earlier this week we saw eBay offering another free listing promotions - by invitation only - but limited to a few categories: Home & Garden; Musical Instruments; Business & Industrial; Sporting Goods; and Sports Memorabilia, Cards & Fan Shop categories.

This promotion (up to 25,000 listings!) is valid for March/April and May.

Now that eBay is changing the fee structure to offer more "free listings" to sellers paying monthly fees for a store, what will future promotions look like?

It would be kind of stupid for eBay to offer "free listings" promotions to sellers who are not spending money on monthly fees for a store.  Sellers paying for a store would rightfully feel cheated.

So what will eBay offer?

I expect that for the first time ever the promotions may involved lower FVF for items over a stated value $50 or $100 or $250 or whatever. Why?  Because many higher priced items are becoming so expensive to sell on eBay with the new fee structure that incentives will be needed to show sellers it pays to sell expensive items on eBay.

Time will tell.

Future eBay Promotions?

That is very intuitive. Raise the FVF for non-store owners and then put the FVF on sale. This will be the next wave of experimentation.
