Hi, I am trying to find an answer about the return process and I am finding it very confusing.
I am the seller in Canada, and the buyer is in the US. When I accepted the return, I was prompted with some options about the return label, and I chose the option of not being able to purchase a label in the buyer's country.
Now the status of the return is waiting on the buyer to ship and upload tracking. So, did eBay send them a return label that I will be billed for later, or do I still have to contact the buyer to work out giving them money for a label?? It seems unclear in the help articles.
I am pretty certain I'm dealing with a scammer (Item was in excellent condition and working perfectly fine when I shipped it, so very unlikely it's suddenly having problems I never encountered with it) so I want to make sure I'm doing everything properly to have even the smallest chance of at least getting it back. Buyer hasn't contacted me either so I'm thinking they're waiting it out so they can choose to have ebay step in and get the refund immediately.
I'm not a business or anything, and I just want to get this over and done with so I can close my account. If selecting you don't accept returns means nothing and anyone can just decide to lie and get to keep the item and the money, then there's no point in selling here anymore.
Thank you!

Just would like to update if anyone is searching for the same issue:
I managed to purchase a label from a shipping website (Ship Pirate, just reverse the shipping info and have them as the sender and you as the recipient). Sent the label to the buyer through eBay messages. With Ship Pirate you can get a refund for the label if they don't end up using it. I then contacted an agent on Facebook and explained the situation, and they had me verify my account and said they added the tracking number to my case (silly way to do it imo, but I only get an option to have them call me on eBay, and I wanted to have a written record of everything). Now I am more confident I've done everything I can and all I can do now is wait and see if I will have to learn an expensive lesson!

I used Shippo.
To open a Shippo account I needed a Solutions for Small Business account from Canada Post, but since that also gives me discounts on some services and is free, it was just a small inconvenience.

Glad things are falling into place for you, @Anonymous. The only thing I would add for others who are reading your post is that I think the site you found is called "Pirate Ship," not "Ship Pirate." You were probably still in "reversal mode" when you wrote your post. 😂

I've used Pirate Ship a few times for returns and it's always been smooth for me. If the label doesn't get used, I believe the money goes to account credit though rather than getting refunded to your credit card.
You should talk to an agent at Pirate Ship and have them add "Simple Export Rate" to your account. For small light items, the savings (assuming they're being sent straight to Canada and not to a cross border pickup place) is very significant.

Make sure YOU also add the tracking number into the actual claim.
