How is estimated shipping time calculated on echeques?

I just received an echeque (it's been a while) and got to wondering --- how does eBay calculate the estimated shipping time on these trans?

I am HOPING the time would start after the funds clear.... seems the obvious answer but since Paypal is a separate company now, does eBat bs on the clearing dates?

thanks for your insight!

I too am hoping it's by the clear date. Certainly, we cannot ship before that. The Sales Record shows payment is 'pending' right up until the moment it clears and then it checks the Payment Received box but I think a lot of our metrics go by what ebay can see on the Order Details page which is different. Despite that, on my last echeque, both Order Details and Sales Record made it shown that payment was not received until the funds cleared.

Order placed: Thursday, Nov 26, 2015

Payment method: PayPal

Payment date: Friday, Dec 4, 2015

My question is with Vacation Manager. If you mark that you're gone for two days, does ebay take that into account with your handling time? I think probably not.

No.

The information entered by a seller in the store vacation settings is not directly linked to each listing.

I agree with Pierre, the vacation setting does not affect your handling time in any way.

Hi Mj, I may have misunderstood your vacation time note, but why would it matter either way?

I think of what I do:

Before I leave on vacation:

-I close the store

-I ship all the stuff that has been paid for (including echeques, I normally don't hold them)

-I send an eBay message to anyone who has purchased and not paid yet to tell them if they pay while I am away, I won't ship until my return date and I will send a further message when I get back advising that it is on its way.

If one follows something like that process, the only time the estimated shipping would matter is cases where the person paid while you were on vacation. Theoretically they would know that it was delayed by the message sent to them, which they'd hopefully remember when they evaluated you, unless of course they're a knob.....
