Is my logic correct?

If you decide to promote your items; giving ebay another percentage selling fees of your choice; on top of what you already give them... does it "demote" other listings from other seller of similar items. Is the demotion occur as a lost of visibility??? Regardless if you own a store or not (I do); I am for an equal item visibility (fair market practice) for everyone. Is my logic wrong???? Does ebay emulate Kijiji practices (fees for top page visibility)?

Have you ever use this promotion? and if so...have you seen an increase in sale? or is it just a marketing scheme to get more fees from the sellers?

There is no such thing.

Some sellers have sold enough and have enough happy customers to get lower FVF.

Some sellers pay less for listing.

Some sellers pay for higher placement in Search.

Some sellers sell enough in a particular category to get higher placement in Search.

The first are Top Rated Sellers.

The second are Store owners.

The third use Promoted Listings or Bold.

The fourth have well chosen keywords and pictures- or just lucked into a niche.

No one is forbidden to do any of these, so to that extent it is a fair market.

But if you open a grocery store in an industrial park without a parking lot and  do no advertising, you won't sell much lettuce.

Choose a (more expensive) location near a residential area, with lots of parking and drop a flyer in every door once a week....

No I haven’t used it.  On the US boards some sellers say it helps, others say it doesn’t so I doubt that there is a definitive answer.  You would have to do the promotion on .com as it isn’t available on .ca.

I have decided to give it a shot...I will give ebay an extra 1% on final value fee for a month on all my items. Nothing to lose...only 1 sale in 4 days.

Well now I’m confused.  The link you posted does say it is available here but I’m sure that we were told it was not going to be available on .ca

in the near future.

@momcqueen  isn’t this what you are asking about?  Last time you looked at it did it say it was available on .ca?

it is done...I went with only 1% extra fee on sale; not above the trending rate as they don't tell you what the trend is. It start today for 30 days. I will then see, after the campaign, if my sale increase or not.

These are only Promoted Listings. They've been available for ages on ebay Canada and I've been using them since the program was released. Please note that if there is no 'trending data' yet for your category of items and you start with a Campaign of seven per cent, then the 'trending data' against which you will be recommended going forward will forever say seven per cent.

It's rose-dee who speaks actively against Promoted Listings and likens it to sellers pit in battle against one another.

The promotions tool about which I've been bellyaching we need on ebay.ca (and now know we cannot ever have in its current form) is Promotions Manager. Not Markdown Manager or Promoted Listings but proper Promotions Manager which allows you to give your loyal customers coupon codes to use on your stuff only and run actually useful campaigns like Buy One Get One Free.

Yes, I have used it since its release. Yes, it is a marketing scheme to get more fees from sellers. But here is the catch: you don't pay for it unless it works and that item sells. So.... it's not like I'm going to miss 43 cents paid for advertising if it netted me a buyer of an item selling for $38.

I don't go running around waving a flag about how great Promoted Listings is because, well, that would be stupid for me as a seller even if it would be good for ebay if I did. I don't need every Tom, Dick and Harry toy seller in Canada to notice Sponsored Listings works for me and then drive the value of 'bidding' for buyer eyes against me.

Get it?

that was just a simple question...does it work or not?

if you not willing to say yes or no, being worry about other toy seller on ebay...fine with me.

my fees are already at 10% plus tax hence the reason of my question

Get it?

Obviously, it works because you don't pay for it until it does. Maybe I didn't make that part clear enough, or perhaps you missed it the first time.

You're welcome.

better self-serve

I'll find out in 1 month...increase in sale or not.

but again...the colour of neon you used on signage will not matter if there is no traffic.

cheers all and thanks
