Hi, i have an order i have to cancel for a buyer because unfortunately its out of stock. This is the first time i've had to cancel an order and i've already contacted the buyer explaning whats happening and that a full refund will be sent. For some reason though when i click cancel order it's asking for additional payment methods in the form of a card instead of just taking it from the bank account we have linked to the ebay account. Is there anyway to just use the linked bank account to pay?

If the buyer has already paid you are not cancelling the order you are issuing a refund. Normally if you refund someone (I've refunded shipping charges when people have combined items many times), the refund just shows up on the payment summary as a negative and either comes out your next scheduled payout, or if there isn't another payment processing, ity should come from the linked bank account for your payouts.

You still have to specify where you want 'other' selling costs taken from. Click on the arrow next to your name on the top left of most pages and then on account settings. Under payment information click on payments and that should take you to the section where you can indicate that you want all selling costs taken from your bank account.

Yes i did that and set my bank account as the source for selling costs as it was only set up for the payouts part. Unfortunately this still didn't work and it requries a credit card to refund once the funds from the sale are no longer in ebay and have already been paid out.

That's odd, they must have changed it though it doesn't make a whole sense to me.

I assume you don't have any funds in Managed Payments to cover the refund? if not, then thats why its asking for a Credit Card. I believe they changed it (another regular poster, posted about this issue a few months ago)

Yes, the funds have already been paid out because the settings automatically defaulted to daily payouts, but im wondering why it requires a credit card instead of just taking the money back out of the account that it paid out into? Its taken money out of it before for shipping costs when there were no funds so im not sure why they want it different now. I gave in and used a credit card so the buyer could be refunded but i'd still like to know if theres a solution to this besides that.

You will be prompted to add a credit card as soon as you do not have sufficient funds in your managed payments account. (This was started months ago).
And oddly enough it seems to be observed when the Seller "out of stock" did you use that option when selecting the reason for the refund?
It is also why I only take payout once a week, simple.
If you're still having trouble issuing a refund, try the following:
