Issue with eBay message system?

Had a potential buyer inquire today about purchasing accelerated shipping. When I tried to reply, I get this message :

"The question you're trying to answer is either invalid or older than 90 days. You cannot respond to questions older than 90 days."

I was able to send a message via the reply with offer feature however. Tried to reply using different browsers and the message shows with today's date on the incoming message. Anyone else encounter this?

Do you have more than one ID?

I sometimes get switched from the account that has an enquiry to some alternate one,usually one I had been using earlier in the day, sometimes it seems random.

Anyway, check that you are in the right ID for the question.

Did the buyer have 0 feedback?  I'm just guessing but if they are a guest buyer, they may not be able to receive messages through the ebay message system.

No it was a regular eBayer with about 20 feedbacks.

Tried using multiple IDs. The next day everything was working normally and I noticed the messaging page had an updated look. I suspect I fell into the update vortex.
