I came across this listing today and had a question. If you list an item on eBay and in the description you put "To get this item directly through PayPal for a better price and faster shipping, message me" is that against eBay's rules for listing? It sounds to me like he is trying to bypass eBay but still have his item available to be viewed by everyone on eBay. Plus, he is selling an iPhone 5 for bidding starting at .99 cents which is ridiculous. If someone bid .99 cents then he would have to sell it for that unless he had a reserve put in his listing. It sounds weird.

Yes that is against eBay's rules. You can report the listing.
If someone bid .99 cents then he would have to sell it for that....
More than likely, he would just refuse to send it and yes..that's against the rules too.

it should be something about avoiding fees but i mean if your the buyer or want to buy why report them you may miss your chance to win it for dirt cheap .. if your a competitor i get it but if your a buyer looking to buy just go get yourself a good deal..
I know it is not exactly moral advice but it is honest .. i don't remember the last time in my life i turned down a good deal unless it was against the law..

If he goes outside of eBay the buyers are not protected so I feel that he wants your money but will not ship the item to you. Who sells an iPhone 5 for .99 cents. NOBODY. Plus, if he gets many people trying to complete the sale through PayPal and not eBay then he could collect (minimum) .99 cents from many people and not send the product. eBay would not be able to help the buyers and he would make money while still keeping the phone.

And that's why (partially) we will soon have "defects" for cancelling sales.
