Keep your eyes open for a listing promotion. Something I haven't seen in ages. May or may not be available for ALL sellers. Posting only as a notice to be on look out for. Details below. Activation will be required.
New year, new saving, more cash. |
Enjoy 50% off final value fees on electronics, fashion, trading cards, collectibles and more.
|
Discount applies to final value fees for qualifying sales. Insertion fees and optional listing upgrade fees may apply.
Sellers (“Sellers) who activate the offer and then list during the Promotion Period, pursuant to the terms and
conditions set forth herein, and list a Qualifying item, will receive a 50% discount on final value fees (“Promotional Rate”) for up to twenty (20) listings that are (i) listed during the Promotion Period (the “Promotion”) and (ii) sold before the listing is automatically renewed for Fixed Price and Buy It Now listings or during the first listing period for auction-style listings.
The following categories are excluded from the Promotion: Business & Industrial, Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, eBay Motors, and Real Estate categories.
Discounted final value fees will be applied to the total amount of the sale including the cost of the item and shipping, sales tax, and other applicable fees. The discount does not apply to any per order fee charged. All existing selling limits on your account (as well as category and item limits) still apply, and may prevent you from creating the maximum number of listings in this Final Value Fee Promotion. View everyday rate plan for full details.
The Promotion is available to sellers who: (i) received an email and/or message in My eBay; (ii) activated the promotion from the invitation email or on the Promotion landing page; and (iii) meet eBay’s minimum seller performance standards. Please sign in to My eBay and view your Seller Dashboard to verify whether your account is currently meeting the standards.
This promotion does not apply to items that sellers have listed on non-Canadian websites (e.g. ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, etc.). However, the promotion will apply if eligible Canadian listings appear on non-Canadian ebay sites, for example when sellers select the option to ship globally.
This Promotion will begin on February 3, 2023 at 01:00:00 ET and will end on February 9, 2023, at 23:59:59 ET for listings on www.ebay.ca, www.cafr.ebay.ca (the “Promotion Period”).
Sellers will be automatically eligible after they activate the Promotion from the invitation email, the Promotion landing page, or from the Promotional Offers module within My eBay. Sellers must create listings on the Canadian eBay sites at www.ebay.ca, www.cafr.ebay.ca through the Sell Your Item form, Seller Hub, eBay Seller Tools, eBay Mobile applications, and most third-party tools. Please note that the discount may not be shown during the listing process. Instead, the discount will be reflected in the "Seller Account” section in My eBay or Seller Hub, under the Account tab, as well as in your next invoice.
Promotion is subject to Canadian laws, void where prohibited, not redeemable for cash, has no face value, and cannot be combined with any other final value fee offer. eBay may cancel, amend, or revoke the Promotion at any time, including in response to fraudulent activity.

Why it's a very good idea to check any secondary email address you have attached to eBay frequently. Often these special offer emails will show up in eBay mail long after they show in the other. eBay tape delay. This recent offer showed up in my gmail but is nowhere to be seen in eBay.

I got this offer too, and it looks like a pretty generous offer. There is no list of "included" categories, just a list of "excluded" categories (Business & Industrial, Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, eBay Motors, and Real Estate), so I have to imagine the offer is good for all categories other than those ones? Sweet. And it's valid for almost a week; usually promos like this are good for a single weekend.
I'm assuming this is eBay's attempt at 'calming the masses' after the fee hike announcement in the Winter Seller Update lol.

Yeah, I got the email but it doesn't show up anywhere in eBay for me. You can go to the following link to activate it (assuming you're eligible): https://pages.ebay.ca/promo/2023/0203/fvf.html

Of note is this hook -
The Promotion period ends at 11:59pm on the 9th, so you have a few days to list AND sell. That is barely time to run a 5 day auction if you want to go that route.
Previous promotions had the discount apply items listed in the promotion period, which could sell after the period was over.
So you have to think about what is likely to sell quickly on a fixed price listing, or do ok in a 5 day auction.

Crazy fine fine print!!!

received nothing from eBay but the link worked>most likely won't use as this type of promo has never been worth my while on eBay...

"Listings that do not sell before the end of The Promotion Period will not qualify for The Promotion"
I think that statement might be a mistake as these type of promotions don't usually work that way. It says the opposite In the top part of the promotion terms. 20 Listings qualify if they are:
"(i) listed during the Promotion Period (the “Promotion”) and (ii) sold before the listing is automatically renewed for Fixed Price and Buy It Now listings or during the first listing period for auction-style listings."
That's how they have worked in the past. The listing has to be started or renewed during the promo period but it gets the discount if it's sold before the FP listing renews or the auction ends.
devon@ebay The terms of the promotion are conflicting. The top statement suggests that to qualify for the promo rate the item has to be listed AND sold Feb Feb 3-9th. The second quote I posted says that the item has to be listed during that time period to qualify but it doesn't have to be sold during that 5 days. It has to be sold before the listing renews.

The FVF discount promotions usually had this sort of time limit restriction, I haven't seen one of these for many years (like about 10 years) although I have seen postings about this type of promo more recently than that.
The only one I participated in was ZERO FVF on 5 listings, I got lucky as I'd been holding a couple of high value items, listed them, sold them, paid no fees.
02-04-2023 03:49 PM
I'm not sure which time restriction you are referring to. If you are saying that the item has to be sold during the 5 days of promotion I have to disagree with you. I remember discussing this in the past and the fvf discount was always available until the FP listing renewed or until the auction ended.
But I don't recall two such contradicting statements being made in the same promotion before.

Thanks again for the link as I have had some items I listed since accepting the link sell and the promotion was applied. Not a ton in my lower dollar value world but the 40cents add up lol! So any savings are great!

Promo is ligit, had my first sale since activation and got the 50% on total (with taxes and shipping!) I wasn't sure if it would be on everything but it was! 1 down, 19 to go (I wish!)
02-05-2023 02:56 PM
I am taking that to be that (ii) is in the instance that the listing renews during the Promotion Period.
LOL. Setting up a 3 day auction to start tonight, will see what happens. It is an odd promo.

So Just wanted to make sure I'm interpreting this promo right, if I end all of my Canadian listings right now and relist them, the first 20 listings that sells during the 30 days listing period will receive 50% off FVF?

Hi @pjcdn2005! Thank you for pointing this out. I will be sure to have this sent over to the correct team to take a look into this. From what I have seen with promotions in the past, normally the listing has to be a newly created one during the stated time period to qualify but I will check to see if that is the case with this particualr promotion.

You're good to go as long as you aren't trying to list a condo or a Lamborghini. Full list of not permitted categories below. Or in multiple categories. May the promo be with you!!!
The following categories are excluded from the Promotion: Business & Industrial, Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, eBay Motors, and Real Estate categories.
