I list using Inkfrog and checked ebay.ca as the site I list from. I'm wondering now if I should put ebay.com instead. I ship worldwide and so assumed this doesn't make a difference. I recently created a new template though and redid all of my listings with it. I can't remember if I had been using dot com or dot ca on my old template.
I'd really love to know how other sellers do this.
Thank you so much for any help

I have always listed on .COM (there was no .CA when I started and I've always believed more sells to Americans/International if it is listed on .COM)
I have always listed using Turbolister (once they created it).
I have always done "everything" through .COM (my ebay etc) except the Canadian seller boards - that is the only stuff I do on .CA
This is just how I do it, might not work for others......

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm going to go and switch my listings. I started with Sparedollar which became Inkfrog because it was lightyears cheaper to list from than the ebay site due to photo storage and listing costs on ebay. These days I am just set in my ways and looking elsewhere hurts my old tired brain.

I have very very few Canadian buyers so I'm not worried about losing those. If I list on ebay.com does that mean that my item can go into a shopping cart there?

I list on .ca and have since 2008, prior to that I listed on .com
I switched because of the shipping caps in Media that are in place on .com, if not for that I would still be listing on.com
That said, I have never personally seen any difference especially as I use only flat-rate shipping and do not specify the specific service.
If you want to use the shipping calculator the only really feasible way for most Canadian sellers is to list on .ca
The cart on .com will work for listings on .ca if they are in US Dollars.

Thank you for your answer. I'm disappointed. I was hoping this would solve the mystery that is my sudden lack of sales. i already list in US dollars, fla t rate shipping, from .ca so I guess that's not it.

The only difference for you if you switch to com will be you will pay slightly higher fees with the FVF charged on the US shipping for all sales outside of canada instead of your lower Canadian rate
Won't make any difference for getting sales

"I'm going to go and switch my listings"
Why the rush? Take your time. There is no emergency in changing your business plan. Listen to different perspectives from different experienced Canadian sellers.
Way back in 1998 and until the mid-2000's I listed exclusively on eBay.com in US$.
For the last many years, I list mostly on eBay.ca in Canadian dollars with a few listings on eBay.com in US$.
There are many advantages in listings on eBay.ca in Cdn$ (despite the current exchange rate differential).
Selling an item for Cdn$ 10.80 may be substantially more beneficial to you than selling the same item for US$10.00 although both values appear to be more or less the same. I wish I had more time to list the many reasons why I switched most listings from eBay.com to eBay.ca but Mary just called me for dinner.
All I want to express at this time: take your time. Do not make an impulsive decision. Get the facts, get different opinions. Then decide.

The rush is because I believe my sudden and total lack of sales is due to a glitch, change or mistake made by ebay or myself. I feel an urgent need to understand why this has happened so I can fix it. I have been doing this since 2004. When I'm not at work I am listing or preparing things to be listed. I find myself hesitant to do that now because it feels like a waste of time. More than once in my ten years doing this I have suddenly had to edit my listings due to a change on ebay or Inkfrog that was going to kill my sales. This is one of those times. I just haven't figured out what's going on yet.
Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate your time 🙂

Pierre, if you have time (after dinner!) would you take a look at this thread, especially Post #39. I'm very curious to know if you know the answer to this cart conundrum; in fact I'm sure many sellers would like to know.
It never occurred to me before the OP in that thread mentioned it that listing on eBay.ca could possibly be preventing US buyers from placing multiple items in the US cart.

"Pierre, if you have time (after dinner!) would you take a look at this thread...,"
As you may have noticed, I generally do not post after dinner. Because you asked so nicely, I made an exception for you tonight.
Good night. Sweet dreams.

Yes, if you list on .com your items will be able to be put in a shopping cart if someone is shopping on that site. However, you mentioned in another thread that you do not sell a lot of multiple items so I don't think that would affect your sales.

If you really want to see if listing on .com makes a difference, list your new listings on that site for the next couple of weeks. I list on both .com and .ca and the only time it can cause a problem (a minor one) is if the same person buys items from both sites. They can't be invoiced together unless I send them an invoice through Paypal.

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM 2014!
It may have been in your best interest to start your own thread to bring attention to your inquiry and/or that is relevant to the current eBay rules and policies pertaining to opening an eBay store...

Threads from 6 years ago often contain info that is very out-of-date or no longer true.
You do not need a have a US store to list on eBay.COM
In 2020 individuals can have up to 50 free listings on eBay.CA and another 50 free on eBay.COM per month. But if you only want to sell to the USA with no shipping to Canada, then you can only list on eBay.COM

shipping to only US ( without Canada post)
That is more complicated than you think.
