No tracking updates

I dropped off a package with the shipping label (Canada Post Expedited) on it in the mail box 3 days ago (on Tuesday) and there's still no tracking updates showing it as "item processed". Is this normal? I'm worried that maybe it got stolen by a postal worker.

Re: No tracking updates

At this point you can phone Canada Post customer service however you're at the mercy of your own method. I recommend you take ALL packages to the postal outlet counter. I also recommend you stand there until the postal clerk successfully scans it/them in. If you do that your package will show up as rerceived by Canada Post within a few hours.

Unless they have a secure chute into a secure drop box I won't leave them  near the counter in some spot they have (like a plastic open crate) marked "Packages".  You aren't covered until your item is scanned in. A few years ago, at Christmas time here, a seller dropped off a file sized box of her goods in there.  The clerk was busy and someone helped themselves to about 50 of her sealed orders.

Drop off at a time when your counter isn't busy and build a repore with your postal worker.

Re: No tracking updates

Are you checking on the Canada Post site or just on eBay for tracking?  It's possible that the tracking just isn't showing on eBay.   If you don't see tracking on CP, then I think the least likely scenario is that it got stolen in the post office.  It's more likely that it just hasn't been scanned but is moving along or that it misplaced in some corner and isn't moving at all.

If tracking does say item processed it means that the post office has scanned it at least once so if the package doesn't  get delivered, you should be able to put in a lost package claim with Canada Post. But if your buyer files an item not received claim before that, you will have to refund them whether or not you have received your insurance payout at the time.

I've been checking both sites for tracking updates since I dropped the package off in the mail box on Tuesday morning, and so far it still hasn't been scanned (it's Friday evening now). I've never had a package take longer than 24 hours to get scanned after it was dropped off. 😞

Re: No tracking updates

Is the buyer complaining?

Why are you watching a shipment in transit that is not yet past its last estimated delivery date?

Mark the last estimated delivery that eBay gave your buyer on your calendar and don't check again until the day before delivery.

If you are worried because of your low feedback rating, you might be better to do some buying to offset those negs.
And personally, I would not be using "private listings" when most of your products seem to be quite innocuous or relatively easy to find.

Private listings are best used when the buyer would be embarrassed to have the purchase on their feedback (Well Worn Socks ?) Or  are truly private transactions that were never shown to the general buying public.

YMMV.
