Oddly, I find that PL doesn't sell my items.
It does bring eyeballs to those listings, and to similar non-PL listings, but I sell a higher percentage of non-PL listings than I do of PL listings.
Full disclosure.
I only use PL at the minimum 2% fee, and of course, that is only paid when a PL listing sells.
And I tend to add PL to my oldest and slowest listings.
I'm trying something on another Store, where I have added PL to all the listings of one particular brand. I will be watching for increased Views on some practically dead stock (brands I don't buy anymore) and any increase in sales.
The PL will be ended after 30 days, if I remember to do so.

You are in the USA, posting about your US issues on the Canadian Boards, bemoaning the "evils" of eBay and their "fees," and your "tax status"...
Yet you sell highly specialized items "targeted" to a tiny percentage of people, so sales would be sporadic at best for your items.
If you want "endless" sales and work, try a different business "model": sell discount unused postal stamps, sewing patterns, trading cards, figurines, or buttons.
Alas, it requires a lot more than a few hours a week of work, and it still does not mean "endless" sales.
Times are a changing, and maybe the issue is the current ever-degrading political situation in the USA, which will only cost Americans more in their wallets for everything and will make them buy even fewer "luxuries".
All these Tariffs will only cost Americans more at the end of the day for every item they purchase; the rest of the world will just adapt and already is...
All the best in your endeavors, but I expect that when this thread rappers in a year or two, you will still be on here "selling" your wares.
