"Due to US customs policies, the buyer of this item will need to pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery. "

I sell CD's, DVD's and books and there is no import fees.  We should be able to click something when listing to show that any import fees are included in the shipping, Duties paid.

Who do we tell or complain to?

Apparently there IS import fees, at least with UPS. I had my first custumer who got a bill in the mail for $10 "entry prep fee" from UPS for his Blu-Ray he purchase from me. So that banner is not entirely untrue I guess.

That is a UPS processing fee it is not duty.

Using UPS or FedEx for cross border shipping was never a good idea and now with the end of de minimis ANY use of DDU shipping is risky.

Most Canadian eBay sellers are using DDP methods exclusively (it's optional for UPS) so for the majority of packages sent from Canada (any country actually) to the US are inclusive of all Duty or brokerage costs which is why the eBay warning is so infurtiating.

I know its not a duty. The banner says "Import Fees" not duties specifically, so the banner is not entirely untrue. It depends on a lot of factors.

I defintely will be using CP ant not UPS in the future, I was testing the waters with UPS while CP was on strike.

No, it IS entirely untrue for those of us using DDP methods. Which is why sellers who use DDP services are so frustrated.

To ad insult to injury EIS shipments (which are DDP) do not show the banner. It would lead one to speculate that eBay is intentionally trying to direct sales to EIS listings and punish those that ship direct.

Probably it is not a specualtion, but  a new business model here. What I cannot get, that they shoot theyselves in a foot.I'm not making sale, they don't get fees, not very smart to say at least.
