I was told yesterday by the Border agent as I was entering the USA that I would be required to use the ACE manifest system to electronically submit my shipping manifest ahead of my crossing effective the end of October. I currently use form 7533 and request a section 321 (informal entry), paperwork presented at time of crossing.
I'll attempt to receive clarification next time I cross. I'm wondering if anyone else has been made aware of this change?

We don't sell with Ebay but we ship a lot of goods internationally from the US. We have been using the same CBP form 7533 with section 321 paperwork to bring these shipments into the US. Our driver was told the same thing. They have a transition period with an Ace manifest being mandatory starting January 1st. I've been trying to get information on this as well and it seems to be hard to come by. CBP has an online portal but I haven't been able to find out yet if I can use that. I have also contacted a company by the name of Simple Ace as they have a little more info for Section 321 imports to see what their service would cost.

Yes my alt freight forwarder let me know of this change as well. Pretty sure ChitChats is using e-manifests as it stands, it'll be interesting to see if more inspections and holds at the border will start with all of this. Hoping not, things have been working smoothly for my freight forwarders!

Where does your driver cross? I got this information at the Prescott/Ogdensburg crossing. I've since heard that this change may not affect informal entry under $2k. I guess we'll have to play a wait and see.

We're from Manitoba so our driver crosses at the Pembina port. Our shipments on one load have a total value of well over $2k. I tried to get info by calling the port but they couldn't help me much other than suggesting I call Ace support. Ace support told me to call the NMFTA to see if I needed a SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) code which they say I do. I guess we're considered a carrier. I'm still researching to see what our options are.
