Is this what Ebay calls - The Ultimate Selling Weekend
List five items and pay only $1 in selling fees. Whoopee Meanwhile our USA friends get 100 or even 500 free listing promos each month. Canada needs to hire a new marketing person who dreams up this stuff. Maybe if more Ebay employees actually sold goods on Ebay themselves they would see how ludicrous this Ultimate Weekend **bleep** really is.

Once again totally useless to me. I'd far rather gave 500 free to list and pay double fvf fees! I will just ignore this one.

Mine has been turned on all along, and I never get them. I think as long as you reside in Canada with a CDN address you will be excluded. Besides the psychological reasons for the change over to CDN listing $ was to get us off .com and start using and listing in CDN $. In the good old days if there was say a promo for 500 you could list 500 on CDN and another 500 on USA. Ebay Canada would like us to stay and list on CA. But of course we can always list in US$ on .com we just don't get the incentives like our USA friends do.

I checked before I posted and mine was already on but I haven't received any US promos. Sorry I should have mentioned that earlier. If it does make a difference for you though, please let us know. I'll try turning mine off and then on again!

Let's look at that "green grass" on the other side of the fence.
* Many categories on the A-river require the seller to be approved to sell in the category.
* Sellers must list against a catalog (with listings lumped together) -- ebay is edging that way -- this means a seller is only competing on how cheap they are.
* depending on what you are selling the fees are significantly more expensive than on ebay
* a "free" listing is not exactly free. AZ has a number of $ options to push a seller higher on getting better odds of a sale -- don't pay and your odds of a sale drop...
A better choice would be ebay allowing stores to use their "free" money to buy blocks of additional listings (instead of shipping supplies) -- $25 for 1000 free listings as an example

I doubt that Ebay would do this kind of thinking outside the box. Besides this would also effect the USA sellers. They would probably prefer this use of free money instead of buying supplies. That would complicate matters. Marketing would look at this as a loss of branding and exposure as less sellers would be buying the Ebay branded items.

" less sellers would be buying the Ebay branded items"
LOL...I cover all the advertising with labels..a big "eBay" on a package just says "valuable...steal me"

Its just as likely that a package with eBay on it is a piece of used clothing. I don't think that the ebay label is automatically equated with expensive. Plus, most companies these days send out their packages in branded boxes so I really don't think that it is seen as a huge problem.

"This Promotion will begin on November 2, 2018, at 00:00:01 ET (12:00AM plus one second), and will end on November 4, 2018 at 23:59:59 ET (11:59PM plus 59 seconds), for listings on www.ebay.ca or www.cafr.ebay.ca (the "Promotion Period")."
Sellers will automatically receive the Promotion after they activate the Promotion from the invitation email, the Promotion landing page, or from within the Promotional Offers module within My eBay. Sellers must then create listings on the Canadian sites at www.ebay.ca or www.cafr.ebay.ca through the Sell Your Item form, eBay Seller Tools, eBay Mobile applications, and most third-party tools. Any listings created prior to the time of activation will not be eligible for the Promotion."
I received the email but as yet I am hesitant to try to "activate" it... as I do not trust the this part of the deal:
"Please note that the discount may not be shown during the listing process. Instead, the discount will be reflected in the "Seller Account" section in My eBay, under the Account tab, as well as in your next invoice."

extra free listings, even if it is only 5, is better than ZERO....I think with all the fees and all the micro-managing of sellers on eBay, ALL listings should be free, UNLIMITED free listings would be even better....a nice dream anyway!

I was just offered another 5 free listings.
This is the best 'Ultimate Selling Weekend' ever!
11-03-2018 03:25 PM
yup...just got the 2nd one too...now gotta see what I can use it on...
11-03-2018 06:30 PM
yes, i received the second one as well. So hopefully ebay is going to honour both of them..
I would hate to be accepting offers, a little lower than normal, knowing my fees are lower, and then ebay decides, oops, that one doesn't qualify..
We shall see,

No it's not.
Final value fees (plural) will still be applied on both cost of item and on shipping.
Final value fee on value of item sold is $1.
Final value fee on shipping still applies. Except for free domestic shipping (no FVF).
And ebay sales tax is still added to any final value fees.
...
I'm sorry, but I do find it contradictory. FVF on the item itself should have been deleted from the first sentence since eBay charge $1. They contradict themselves.
On another note... I got the promo twice. So I will not complain. 😉

Just sold one item I listed for this promo. They charged me $1 + tax for the item cost (great), but *also* for the shipping part. What? It should have been less than $0.50 for the shipping part! Not $1.15 ![]()

There was one post in the forums before (early summer?) about this type of offer saying that the $1 was charged for each Final Value Fee.
Most Sellers wouldn't notice since tracked shipping is expensive (so shipping FVF normally would be above $1) and those with "free" domestic shipping do not have a FVF charged on shipping (so $1 is not charged).
...
The only question is if you saved on the total fees versus not using this offer.

I'm on the other end, smaller numbers of listing but higher value. I just put up $5000+ worth of product with this promo so its pretty significant if it sells.
